Bengals Draft

Featured Replies

Wow, his freshman stats were basically identical to my sons freshman stats except

my son avg 1 more yd a catch lol. Do you think they'd draft a kid from Florence next year? Hahaha

I know you are having some fun here but ... is he 6'3" 200 lbs and runs a 4.40 40? :)

Fortunately or unfortunately, those numbers count even more than production in the NFL.

Glad to hear your son is doing so well. I am sure it is a lot of fun watching him play and have success in college.

Like most players that get drafted from this point on, Dielmann looks like a practice squad project that you hope turns into something in a couple years.

That is why it doesn't bother me drafting a kicker at this point. A kicker has a better chance of helping your team this year than just about any other player you get at this point. If you need a kicker and have all those picks, go ahead and draft one. If the kicker doesn't stick though, then you wasted a pick.

Basically, you want a guy who makes pressure kicks. Not sure there. Next a guy that makes the ones he's supposed to. He is money under 40 (extra points are big there). Not a strong leg, but great trajectory and the intangible 3 of 6 of his onside kicks were recovered.

I just want a guy that makes the ones he is supposed to.

The way he kicks and how it comes off his foot, trajectory and all that look very similar to Nugent. Most teams are close to field goal range once they get to the 38 or 40. Bengals can't be comfortable with a field goal until they get to about the 28. Yes it's only 10 yards, but 10 yards does make a huge difference.

Not to mention even if they had him rated as the best. There was 2 other kickers most have rated above him. So they could have waited till the 6th or 7th round. I doubt three kickers get drafted before the 7th.

I get what your saying. However he is rated as the third best. Most likely he would still be there in the 6th or 7th. If they took the strong leg kicker from Arizona State i could have understood them being worried he doesn't make it past the 5th round, since most have him rated as the best.

Well, this guarantees they get who they wanted. They will bring in another I believe to compete with Bullock and Elliott

CBSSportsline is reporting that WCPO is calling for a boycott on the Bengals this year due to the Mixon pick.

There is a common theme in these draft picks by the Bengals ... speed. All the position players selected so far are among the fastest, most mobile in their respective positions.

That makes me want to boycott WCPO. Just another publicity stunt.

I'm with WCPO.

Part of drafting well is also having a good idea when you can get the guys you want. With him being the third rated one, should have made them comfortable knowing he would still be there next round or 7th.

I would like to see them draft qb Chad Kelly. With his injury you could IR him this year, and have a backup for next season.

I think people outraged by Mixon should have been outraged a long time ago. I consider people who didn't say anything for the past 20 years and are now outraged by Mixon nothing more than bandwagon people. WCPO making this an issue now are just jumping on the bandwagon and trying to capitalize for reasons other than morals.

It would be a good pick.
