What would have been news worthy, would have been if he had kept the same positions he spouted for years when he was railing against Wall St and Wall St types from the podium and turned down the $400K. Let's see if Obama runs for office again and then it will be on them to call him out for it. Otherwise, he is a private businessman trying to make money.

You're asking the wrong guy. I gave up all of my ethics last August so I could keep my job. I have a family to feed and take care of. My ethics won't feed my family. My job will though.

Umm … yeah. Since Trump won't release his tax returns and won't divest from all of the creepy ways he is using the office to continue to enhance the monetization of "his brand." But see below.

And I'm not even an Obama fan, so I feel no obligation to defend him on this. You guys need to stop acting like "ethics" matter in grand scale national politics. Our senior senator in Ky is the master of making his exalted position work for his bank account. But he's probably going to be supplanted in 4 years by the current occupant of Mar-a-Lago — I mean, the White House.

Politics is not a good arena to trot out the ethics argument. We just elected a guy with questionable ethical character, ignoring many questionable statements, especially concerning how he has treated women.

Looking back, I agree: the ethics question would have been better to have its own thread.

 

My question wasn't aimed at the politicians, but to the respondents early in this thread...who "laughingly" said they would be happy to believe one thing but say something entirely different for enough money.

One question ... are the conservatives in this thread as outraged at Trump for what he has done with big banks and changing positions? I want an honest look at what Trump has done so far.

 

Noone is angry Obama took money from Wall Street I specifically said I would do the same. I just said after 8 years of making them out to be evil and then accepting their money, make his words mean nothing and a hypocrite. I'm not angry and I'm not shocked.
