Obama being responsible for the democrats being in shambles is 100% an opinion. IMO Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are responsible for the democrats being in shambles. They made democrats choose sides and to this day that line in the sand is still drawn. You can call it my love affair with Obama all you want because I LOVE Obama and I always will. I have questioned him multiple times and always will if I am wondering why he did something. At the same time I'll never vilify him the way you and other republicans and Bernie Sanders and Hillary supporters do. Not gonna happen. It's never a good thing to see the party I love in shambles and like I said if Obama is believed to be at fault then I guess I'm not a democrat then.

Too many reasons to name but the core of it is that he is a successful black man who reminds me of my father and also of myself. He's opened countless doors in so many ways for black people and he ascended to one of the most powerful positions in the world in a time where I don't know anyone who ever expected to see a black POTUS. He broke down barriers and did it in a thought provoking manner and showed a class and dignity while doing it that IMO has been unmatched by other black leaders in politics and society. I'll always love Obama for what he did and what he withstood while fighting for what he believed in. He's one of the best politicians I have ever seen and if my sons ever wanted to become POTUS I would advise them to study Obama and how he was able to accomplish his goals. I don't think we'll ever see another black politician as good as Obama was in my lifetime. He was one of a kind.

 

Having a POTUS who likely has a music playlist similar to one of mine speaks volumes to me and millions of other black people. A POTUS in office that likely knows every word to "Can't Knock The Hustle" or "Dead Presidents" damn near brings a tear to my eye. Obama did that.

 

Legendary lyricist Phyfe Dawg passed away and the White House offered condolences publicly. Obama did that.

I never said he was MLK or Malcolm X. I think they are both two entirely different people with two different goals. Without MLK/Malcolm X there is no Obama. Without Obama there is no next black POTUS. They both mean different things to the black community and for me it isn't a competition about who did what for the black community. Tupac, Obama and even Jay Z will always mean more to me than MLK/Malcolm X because those are the strong successful black male figures of my lifetime. IMHO, to mention President Obama and Tupac in the same breath is ludicrous. While he was a great artist, Tupac was a thug that died in the same manner he lived.

Tupac is an extremely controversial figure who has had a lasting impact on our society that may or may not be known. Complex and contradictory individual doesn't even come close to describing him. You won't find many black men between the ages of 35-50 who haven't been highly influenced mentally by Tupac.

No argument there. I just think there are way more layers to Tupac than just labeling him a thug and be done with him. I don't think there will ever be a more contradictory individual in my lifetime.
