May 10, 20179 yr Can anyone explain why Obama didn't just have Wall St. donate $400k to charity since the Obamas just donated $2M around the same time? Seems like it would have solved some of the "appearance" and "hypocrisy" claims for the same net result.

May 10, 20179 yr Never let someone else take a deduction that you could take yourself. But it is still a net zero to him, right? If he gets paid $400k, he has to declare that as income. If he later donates it, he gets the $400k deduction. If he gets paid $0 and gets no deduction, ends up in same spot, right?
