Clay is still a pretender always have been always will be. I've seen Clay roll out great middle school team after team but when those same kids get to the varsity level they fold up like cupcakes. Nothings changed around the Tiger den YET, until Clay gets a quality win over a good team They've earned no respect.

Rock is a solid favorite, as they should be. To say Clay has no repect is pretty harsh. From what I hear Clay's kids along with their coaching staff are very well respected. They have come a long way in a short period of time. Regardless of the outcome, Clay has a solid team with only 5 seniors. Good luck to both.

You don't get to the level that Rockcastle has attained by not respecting your opponents. It is true that Clay's record has been built on a less than stellar schedule. However, they have beaten them all and they've shown they can move the ball very effectively. I feel like they're a year away from being a district title threat but they've earned respect for their progression.

I am not a Clay County fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't see how you can knock this team. If you've actually observed what has happened there, you have to give them their due. Last season Clay started out as a power, running team. After a poor preseason showing and a first game loss to Wayne County, Steppe realized what he had in his freshman QB, junked his offensive scheme and came up with a spread offense that suited his talent. How many programs can do a complete turnabout like that after the season has already begun? I don't think that team is built to showcase Lewis but rather to take advantage of what he brings to the table and I have to applaud Steppe for what he has done.

This is a game that I for one am really looking forward to. Obviously I have no dog in the fight, but I'm excited to see if this Clay Co. team is for real or not. This is the kind of game that if I was single I'd make the haul from Northern KY to see.

 

I'd expect it to be a little closer than what I've seen from many of you that have "blood" in the game. This is definitely a "measuring stick" game for Clay County. At the same time, I expect Coach Larkey to have Rock ready to play on "enemy soil."

 

Should be a good one.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Week ten next year was supposed to be Clay vs Corbin. Corbin picks up Somerset instead of Clay leaving Clay looking for a week ten apponent.

I would like to see Clays non-district schedule for next year.

I'm off for this weekend so if you wanna go and need someone to ride along with you then I'm your man. LOL.

The Rock is favored, I think the most important factor friday night is the fact Clay has never been in a big game and when the lights come on they'll look like deer in the headlights of a CSX train.

 

Rock will come out and hit Clay's young team, and they'll break down. Nothing forces a team into quit mode like getting hit, you can have every gimmick in the book but nothing overcomes tough agressive play each and every snap. We'll find out if Lewis has the ability to throw on the run. Can #7 remain composed running for his life, can he avoid tossing the pigskin to rocket defenders? we'll see! But I don't think he can....

 

If Clay can survive getting socked in the mouth durring the first half then it may be a close game, otherwise Rock will do as predicted and hand Clay its first loss of the season, and it'll be a significant margin.

Clay has came a long way in the last few seasons. Just a few years ago. Their coaches first season, they went 0-10. Now they are a playoff team 2 years in a row. Big ups to the boys at Clay co.
