Taylor playing bad had A LOT to do with Ballard.

Yes, 80% of Taylor's trouble was Ballard.

I picked Ballard last fall to come out of that region in the contest I picked Ballard to win it all in the latest contest

Doss beat Taylor County 94-41 (53 point loss) about a month ago. Ballard beat them good, but TC just does not have a team that would cause much concern with many of the 6th & 7th region better teams. To the credit of TC, they played the very best teams of the 6th & 7th this year...Trinity, Fern Creek, Doss, and now Ballard. The closest margin was a 26 point loss to Fern Creek at the Clem Haskins Invitational at Taylor County. The thing Ballard does best is the worst possible match up for Taylor County. Great season though after losing so much talent from the past couple of seasons.

A weird run of good luck fell TC's way in the region, such as Bardstown's stars all getting in early foul trouble, dodging North Hardin had they been at full strength, and overcoming an Adair County team that looked like it had zero interest in playing defense the times I saw them.

 

To their credit, Taylor played out of their minds as well. They were also playing with a lot of pent-up anger against the teams in their district and region as well, which carried them through region but couldn't survive the 9-day gap between games.

 

I think North Hardin, had all the weird drama not occurred, would have represented the 5th Region best at state, but it's hard seeing any of them beating Ballard. Each team had too many fatal flaws, but they led to interesting matchups within the 5th.

Couldn't have said it better. It was just a weird run for TC. A full strength North Hardin would have probably represented the 5th region better. With that, I don't think they would have beaten Ballard. North didn't have strong guard play....and that plays right into Ballard's wheelhouse.

This is not one of Ballard's best teams talent-wise, but this may be the hardest playing Ballard team I have ever watched. They get into you from the tip and don't let up. Coach Renner has done a very good job with this team, although I think they will come up short against Fern Creek tonight. We will see.
