March 12, 20179 yr I'm happy with where they both ended up. A committee member said that Duke was a 4 seed on Wed and jumped the most. They were stopped from being a 1 seed because another team stood in their way who was ranked higher than Duke on Wed and won both their conference title and their tournament which I assume was UK. They also talked about Dukes very weak out of conference schedule hurt them as well which should. Regular season should be a factor and playing among the weakest out of conference schedule should have an impact. Im happy with where both teams fell.
March 12, 20179 yr Simple. There has only been 1 team with 0 losses since the NCAA Comittee released their top 16 teams on Feb 11th. That team is UK. Duke on the other hand has lost 3 times since then. If that's not enough for you then maybe this will help. Duke was ranked in both polls as 16th or 17th in the nation this past week (AP and Coaches polls) while U.K. Was in the top 10 in both. UK won all their games since then so how should a team with 8 losses leapfrog a team ranked higher than them by 8 spots? This would be a great argument for UK if they didn't play in a conference that only cares about football. Sadly, we're talking basketball, and there's a reason UK has won 30 conference tourney titles. The adjusted level, if SEC schools cared about hoops, would be 23. Still a great mark. Who knows what they REALLY put emphasis on. They say one thing and then their seedings suggest otherwise. So we'll see. The fact that you play in a crummy conference matters. I don't think UK deserves a 1 seed. I just think they deserve to be higher than Duke. They've done nothing to drop since the Feb 11 rankings came out They're a solid, legit #2 seed. Could have been a #1 but their conference dragged them down. They got no help from the committee and will be fighting to get past UD. I can't see them beating South Carolina. You've gotta be kidding.

March 12, 20179 yr Seriously though, while I don't expect Duke to lose to South Carolina, I wouldn't rule it out either. The Gamecocks will slow the game down and try to limit the number of possessions Duke gets, which could close the talent gap a bit. Also Duke has been an up and down team this season, they just won four in a row to get their two seed and based on statistics they are due for a loss soon. South Carolina will throw a left handed monkey wrench into Duke's offense IMO. How Duke responds to that will determine the winner of that one.
