What do I need to know about my first trip to BB&T Arena?

Recommended Posts

I'm an NKU grad, but I've long lived away from the area and have not had the chance to attend a game there. The campus has changed much in my days.

What do I need to know about the place? I have gathered from past threads discussion the 9th and 10th Region tourneys there that folks don't always leave with a great impression.

If you go to the BB&T to watch a basketball game and not to eat, it's a great venue, it really is.

If you go to eat snacks, drink Pepsi, it's costly but not any more than any college/major arena.

The sight lines are great, you sit in a very comfortable cushion seat, clean and plentiful restrooms, easy parking and not a hard place to get to or leave from. Yes, you pay to park but at least you can find a place to park and within a close distance to your seat, unlike some HS gyms which over the years have hosted the Ninth Region Tourney.

I honestly don't understand the haters. No, it's not an HS gym but you wouldn't have had all the people who attended the games Saturday night, in any HS gym in the Ninth Region and a lot of those fans wouldn't even have tried to attend those games if played in an HS gym.

BTW I believe NKU is on Spring Break.

There are plenty of local places to eat before the game just a little south on rt 27, there is a Frisch's just in front of the entrance. The Lawnboy tour is 1 star on trip advisor by the way. But he does a heck of a job on updates.

I really enjoyed the regional tournament when we played there a few years ago with the 9th region. What I really like was you had assigned seats with your ticket. Didn't have to get there before doors opened to get a good seat.

Jim think you will really like it.

Yes to Skyline. Parking can be difficult, use the parking garage IMO. If you arrive for the late sessions between 5:30-6:30PM it is an absolute mess if classes are in session. Otherwise, not too bad. I think it is great place to watch a game.

NKU is on SPRING BREAK this week. Parking shouldn't be an issue for the early sessions!!

If you're coming from the AA and turning left onto 27, here's a bit of advice if it looks like the traffic is heavy turning left into campus. Get in the right lane, turn right at the BP, then cross there.

I have been to the arena for three different types of events over the past couple of years...monster truck show, the circus, and a Norse basketball game. We've had a great experience for all three. I think you'll enjoy it.

And as someone who graduated from there back in '95...yes, the campus has changed quite a bit.
