People that have seen total eclipses will tell you have there is an extraordinary difference between even 99% covered and totality.

 

Perhaps so. I work that day at 6 pm though, don't see myself making it down to WKY and back to NKY that day.

Hope you guys planning on coming to this end of the state have your rooms. Saw where the Super 8 in Metropolis, IL has their last rooms at $700.... To put into perspective the quality of this place,the next week they're about $50...

I'm thinking about driving to Franklin and sitting up camp at a park somewhere.

 

At home I'm outside the path, but 20 miles away in Bowling Green they are supposed to get :48 of totality. Franklin is supposed to get about 2:45 of totality, or it was the last time I looked.

That would make sense!!

99 years ago was the last time a total solar eclipse could be seen over such a large swatch of the U.S.

I'll drive a few hundred miles to reach Totality. I'm gonna be monitoring the weather very closely leading up to eclipse day to determine which direction I'll be going.

Anyone planning on attending a "watch party" or maybe traveling to an area that will be in the band of totality? This will be a pretty special eclipse. We don't get this good of a look at a total eclipse that often. I'm thinking about either Hopkinsville or possibly the western part of Tennessee I will probably go a couple of days ahead of the eclipse and make it a final little vacation before school starts backs. I'm really looking forward to this rare chance of seeing a total eclipse in our general vicinity?
