The Grammy's - Your Highs and Lows ???

Featured Replies

After watching the Grammy's last night for the first time in quite awhile , I was reminded of why I don't pay much attention to popular music anymore. That was three plus hours of my life that I will never get back and I am not happy about it. Much to my non-surprise, it was jammed with a lot of C(rap).

The tributes to George Michael , Prince, and the Bee Gees could have, and should have, been better. Bruno did make a pretty good Prince.

The highlight of the night for me was the duet of country star Maren Morris and Alicia Keys singing Morris' breakup ballad, "Once." Really good. I really like Kelsea Ballerini . She deserved better than the mashup duet with Lukas Graham. I would have rather seen Kelsea without Lukas.

Lots of political statements and thinly-veiled shots at Trump. Busta Rhymes making reference to "President Agent Orange" got a chuckle out of me. Katy's performance was pretty good. She wore a white pantsuit that was clearly a tribute to Hillary and an armband that said "Persist." Lost of interesting visuals in Beyoncé's performance.

I think I'll just continue to listen to my seventies and eighties music. Today's popular music still sucks as bad as it has for the better part of three decades now. C(rap).

I enjoy watching the Grammys each year. Adele showed real honesty in her redo tribute to Michaels. Gaga and Metallica were good (not sure how a mic doesn't work on that stage though). The Weeknd seemed to be lip syncing which astounds me. Bruno was great. Beyoncé is great but I struggled with her performance. She did deserve the award over Adele though. Also, I thought Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood were fantastic.

I feel like I have a good balance of appreciating new stuff while still holding on to my old stuff.

I watched up until the two guys who had just been announced winner took off their pants and went on stage in their underwear to accept.

I said to myself, "Well Self, that's about enough of this goofy crap for me!"

Metallica didn't get introduced and James' mic wasn't on. The one real rock/metal performance of the night and they blew it. Embarrassing.

Been following Twenty One Pilots for a while since they are from Columbus. Not sure if you listened but their story on why they were in underwear was great. Kudos to them for following through with it.

A pretty good metaphor for the entire night.

Yeah, it was an incredibly cute story. Here's one too. I said three years ago that if I ever ran a 6- minute mile that I would like to run through the aisles at Kroger naked as a jaybird. A friend even said he would bail me out of jail if I'd do it. If I reach that 6 -minute mile mark, should I go through with it, or just chalk it up as a bad idea? I thought so... They should have kept their damn pants on. No one wants to see musicians in their jockeys and no one wants to see my meathook at Kroger.

It was a good story, but it seems every other award's show has a bit where someone is not wearing their pants.

In my best rap voice:

You say Meathook

I say fiction

Exaggerate the truth

That's your addiction.

Re: Beyonce. I am sorry, I don't get the adoration. I thought the eight minute whatever she did was awkward. She was getting hammered on social media but today people act like we were witnesses to a Mozartian masterpiece. Jay Z and Beyonce are power players, no doubt. But it shouldn't make their performances above criticism.

Loved the Prince tributes. Enjoyed Keith and Carrie. Love watching Bruno Mars. I liked the host. I liked the Neil Diamond carpool kareoke. Did not get Adele's George Micheal tribute and was surprised that she could not just continue from the place she was at. I was really embarrassed for her. Beyonce's performance had some interesting initial imagery. After that it was just weird to watch. I was disappointed in The Bee Gees tribute. Overall, I felt like it was a lack luster night of professionals who have already arrived.

Thank you. It seemed like she was trying to portray Mary, Mother of God. Her headpiece looked like a Monstrance from Mass. Everything about it was so strange that I felt uncomfortable.

I watched with my son and daughter. We had so much fun laughing at different things and people, as well as singing along. The show was lacking on many levels but I had a good time with my people.

This wasn't my favorite year for the Grammys, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I really enjoyed James Corden as the host. I thought most of the performances were really good. Unlike the rest of you, Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood didn't "wow" me. I really enjoyed Adele's performances. And I loved her take on George Michaels work. I really respect her for doing what she thought would be right to pay the proper tribute to him. She is as "real" as it gets. I enjoyed Beyonce's performance, but I thought it was a little too long. It started to lose me. But she is a beautiful woman, and the artistic elements of her performance were stunning. I felt bad for Metallica, although I don't really like this new album. It was pretty crappy that their performance was so badly screwd up. Not my favorite Lady Gaga performance. But I did love her crowd surfing. Really enjoyed Ed Sheeran. I loved his one man band.

Let's see...What else....? I guess as a whole I enjoyed it, but it didn't knock my socks off.

I didn't watch because I hate to hear cry baby's talk about politics instead of what they do best.

This is why I haven't watched a Grammy Awards show in probably 25 years.
