Highlands at Columbus DeSales Predictions

Featured Replies

I believe in the power of motivation, and Highlands should have plenty of that. If DeSales doesnt respect them, then they will be unprepared for the onslaught of blue and white. Highlands will avenge the loss, especially when they feel they have been disrespected or wronged. Just ask the 2004 Rebels in the State championship game after the 2003 win by the Rebels.

I asked my Columbus friend for his opinion about the 06 edition of DeSales. This is his response, "They are 4-0 and ranked second in the state (D-3, Ohio has 6). Another good looking team, they mostly run, but their passing game is good - usually for big plays. See you Friday - I am sure we won't have any trouble finding the Bluebird faithful."

The Birds are improving on both sides each week. The boys are responding to the coaching. Smart move getting Koop on the field at TE. He is doing a great job in the edge. The O should stretch the field and not allow them to put stuff the box. D has to be fundamentally sound, not overun the play and while gang tackling. An error free game by all three teams (O,D & Special) will bring home a win.

HHS 35

DeSales 28

Welcome Goodsense and I agree with you, the birds better be ready for this one. Just another test for our run to state.

How did this become a test for me? :D

I haven't seen DeSales since I believe '03? Whenever CCH went up to play them. CCH was pretty down that year though, and DeSales put a thumping on us. So it's hard for me to guage how they'll be.

Hopefully Birds get some respect for NKY.

It cearly sounds like DeSales didn't think too much of Highlands' playing abilities last year, and thought the 'Birds were a two-bit hick football program. I sincerely hope that the current Highlands players and coaches (many of whom were present for the game last season) keep all this in mind throughout this week of practice and on Friday night. I hope they all spend some time thinking about the football tradition that exists at HHS, and I hope they spend some time considering the importance of going up to Columbus and playing superb, disciplined football. If the team plays up to its tradition and history, they will win the game, period. And when that happens, I know that our fans will not sit up there, in DeSales' own "house," and disrespect them the way they apparently disrespected us last year. Go 'Birds, and play up to the level that the legacy of Highlands football deserves.

Things like honor and tradition and history matter. Highlands High School, and by extension the school's football team, are the pride of the extended Fort Thomas community (including those living outside the city, like myself, who resides in North Carolina, and my sister, who lives in Colorado). To the players and coaches at Highlands: honor us, yourselves, and the entire community on Friday night.

While meandering along the DeSales sideline (HHS stands) I heard several players and coaches mocking the Birds last year. I would be put on suspension if I wrote the comments verbatim (the theme was an overrated, crappy hillbilly team from Kentucky, and that they had forgotton more football than HHS knows). I'm sure HHS will have this loss fresh in their minds. Highlands is too strong up front on both sides of the ball to get whipped. I say HHS 28 to 14.

I'm a CCH fan, but to hear that about any team is simply trashy. I root for all NKY outside of when they are playing the Colonels.

I hope Highlands thrashes DeSales.

Highlands 34-27.

Back at Cov. Cath. This weekend with Cincy X. Remember, "With a Spirit That Will Not Die":thumb:

IMO, Desales names the score...I'm going to say Highlands will do a little better than last year but still lose big....Hows 35 14 sound?

I'm thinking that Desales is not up there with St X or Elder so I'll pick HHS to stay focused and pull it out 21-14.

Beechwood loses 18-0 to Kettering Alter and HHS is going to get killed...... I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!

I would expect a close game and pick the Birds to win by a FG.

Thanks Blue.

DeSales will know they are in a game before the 1st period is over.

Special teams and field position will play a huge part in what figures to be a close game.

Excellent playoff prep.

This is going to be a fun one.

I actually think DeSales is up there with X and Elder. This game is going to be a real battle. Don't get me wrong, we can win, but its going to take a supreme effort by every Highlands player stepping foot onto the field on every play. We can't afford any letdown on any play, and that includes special teams. If we slack off on a kickoff or punt, it may make the difference in a loss and a win. This game needs to be the game that Highlands proves it can play error free in a big game, because that's what its going to take to beat teams like CovCath on the road to State. Go Birds.
