Where was this one played?

Mason County.

Good job Royals was a fantastic game,Frankfort has a ton of speed and i believe was in the top 15 in all classes in scoring per game at 42 and was held to 12,Scoring 6 of those with 29 secs left in the game.Royals go to 4-1 on the season and a bye week next week before starting district play.Good luck to Frankfort the rest of the way as i bet they don't lose may more games.

Nice game plan by the Royals, grinding it out and playing keep away. Game probably shouldn't have come down to a missed 2-point conversion with less than a minute to play, but Frankfort never quit.

With Howell now healthy, Mason County now has four RBs that are basically interchangeable and all four saw lots of playing time this evening. Thompson and Crawford are both threats to get to the edge; while Marshall and Howell get the tough yards inside. Frankfort had nice athletes at the skill positions, but only got outside a handful of times. Mason's line play has improved a lot since game 1; which played a big part in tonight's win.

Congrats to the Royals. Coach Buchanan always has teams that seem to improve each week.

Stats from today's Ledger-Independent (sorry, no individual stats):

Mason County: 9-12, 81 yds passing; 45 carries, 250 yds rushing; 331 total yds

Frankfort: 5-8, 22 yds passing; 38 carries, 196 yds rushing; 218 total yds

Mason County probably had the time of possession edge, I'd guess something like 29-19 or thereabouts. Two MC drives that stalled deep in Frankfort territory kept the game closer than it should have been; IMO much emphasis in Royals practice for the next two weeks will be on "sealing the deal".

One disturbing trend in this game was Mason County allowing a TD with 19 seconds to play in the first half; then allowing another with 29 seconds remaining in the second half. Stopping those late drives or at least forcing FG attempts will be necessary against the likes of Ashland and Johnson Central in district play.

You are correct. That is something we practice already, but we struggled with that in practice this week, and we struggled on Friday night as well.

It would be a mistake for me to begin responding to stuff on this forum, but your insight was good, and after a win, it is a little bit easier to do so. But, it is probably best for everyone that I don't make this a habit. This post was an exception.

Frankfort has a very good team. Best of luck to the Panthers the rest of the way.

Congrats to Mason Co. on another solid win. This district is looking to shape up nicely with Greenup Co. making a big statement tonight with their win against South Point OH. Once against Congrats to Mason on the win and good luck to Frankfort on the rest of your season.

Nice game buy both teams, Mason scored first, but Frankfort didn't lay down and die they kept fighting and got back in it, Cox, Marshall, and Howell did a nice job, Frankfort kept banging comeback and lost by only 2. Good luck Royals.

I am sorry I missed this game. This was a battle between 2 good teams and 2 great Coaches. They both always have their teams ready. Coach Buchanan is one of ther best of "game planners" I have seen. Congratulations to Coach Buchanan and the Royals. Coach Foley and his team, way to fight and keep working at the great job your doing at Frankfort. Best wishes to both Coaches and programs the rest of this season and the future.
