Look, I think you're a smart guy. And one thing about us as a species, we will never fully understand what qualifies as logic from one person to the next. And as much as you try to convince yourself that math and science lead you to believe that there are alternative life forms somewhere out there in the ether, you deny the possibility that we were created along with everything else by God. You know as well as I do that you can't have something created from nothing (aka big bang). I don't have to tell you how many folks that try to age our planet, universe, creation etc. all still point to intelligent design. With that said, I can't take anyone seriously who says that they believe that aliens exist and flatly deny even the possibility that God exists using the criteria of lack of evidence. Get that garbage outta here.

A very good friend of mine, PhD from Cambridge, associate professor of astronomy at the University of Louisville and devout Catholic. He think's it's illogical and arrogant to dismiss the existence of God.

These kind of discussions attract some of the most intelligent thinkers. Witness the last four posters in this topic. Four of the most intelligent on this board. That's why I love philosophy and religion.

I guess, for me, it goes back once again to what is God? Depending on one's definition, I may actually be a believer. I may attempt that topic one more time soon.

My life is great actually. I am in no hurry to check out, but the rest of humanity kinda needs to go.

 

I just have seen nothing in the grand scheme of humanity in the last decade to make me think that our species deserves to continue. The last 2 years have really altered my perspective. The rise of the anti-intellectualism, the rise of populism, the polarization of politics, the return to the nationalist sentiments of a pre- WWI world, and the ease with which people can find "alternative facts " disgusts me.

 

Time to wipe the slate clean and let the planet start over.

I'm just really disappointed in the board with this oversight to have lasted this long. I wasn't always down with Maiden when we were kids, but grew to love them over the years. Great album for sure.

Yeah people suck I agree, I think the real downfall is due to social media.

 

Can't blame social media. People have sucked as long as they've existed. Humans crave power and dominance over one another. Humans have always been horrible. All one had to do is pay attention. But it's not social media's fault.
