That's why drug dealers need to be gone after hot and heavy, have them scurrying around like rats. I guarantee you go in with force or perceived force, people are going to die needlessly. The people will take the risk when you get rid of one gang and another will step up if there is a market for the drugs. You will not punish these folks out of this behavior. DJT is wanting people to just sit down and do what he says/wants, it won't work. Complete misunderstanding of the problem. Right now the reward is MUCH greater than the risk. This is no different than the terrorism problem. If we get rid of ISIS, others are already lined up to begin again. It is like starfish, they can just regenerate forever. Force may get rid of one problem but it will not solve the root problem. I don't understand how people refuse to see this. If the root problem is still present then the same issues will always remain.

There are thousands of drug dealers already behind bars. You will not punish this problem away.

You wanted to know where I would start that is where. You want to punish the dealers, I say let's legalize the drugs. Are there other solutions? I am open to all.
January 25, 20179 yr Off the top of my head, I would stop all imports from known countries that are drug havens. I would also strengthen up the DEA so they can have better resources to stop the high level drug dealers. I would need to know what we are doing currently and need understanding as to why it isn't working to give a more informed answer. If the answer is ultimately that it can't be stopped then we need to take a long hard and serious look and legalizing drugs and taking the crime out of the equation. Does that also go for all the Middle Eastern countries that grow and supply OPIUM, which is used for pain pills, heroin, etc.

Because the force solution is so easy and barbaric. That is a mindset in this country, unfortunately, and they are in charge. Treat them the way he is treating American companies that send jobs overseas. If we know drugs are coming from your country then we won't accept anything at all from your country. South American countries, Asian countries, Mexico. Doesn't matter what you send. Shut them all off. Can we or can we not produce everything we need for American people without the help of other countries or not? If not then it will be an issue. If we can cut off all imports from drug havens then I have to imagine it will clean up a lot of illegal drug trafficking directly or indirectly.

Vast majority of people using Heroin and Meth aren't holding down 9-5 jobs. Are some, sure for a while they may...but I've never seen a drug user that consistently held a job. I'd be willing to bet that 80% or more of theft in our counties currently comes from a need to feed someones drug addiction. I know over the years the people that I dealt with stealing went from maybe a handful having drug issues to nearly 90% having some sort of drug problem.

I couldn't agree more. Feds going into inner city Chicago would be no different than when the Feds raided Waco and that whole situation they had in the northwest last year. It would become barbaric force at some point most likely instigated by the already in the inner city who have no regards for human life. We'd be watching Americans kill Americans on the news but hey, law and order. Clean up Chicago.

I know over the years the people that I dealt with stealing went from maybe a handful having drug issues to nearly 90% having some sort of drug problem. Maybe the government can invest more money in treatment centers. They can use the money from legalized drugs. Without having the knowledge that they may or may not have on the situations that's all I can offer. My main idea is to shut off all drugs coming in to the country. It can be done. We have the technology and resources. We just need to invest the time and energy to stop it. We don't have that and never have.
