January 25, 20179 yr Author You would agree that those in charge in Chicago are not doing anything to fix the problem correct? The problem is way bigger than "those in charge of Chicago". Way bigger. This is a national problem. Not just a Chicago problem. Chicago is the eye sore for sure and if it weren't for the shootings and killings at an alarming rate no one would care. Folks around here say heroin is a problem. An epidemic. It's been an epidemic in inner cities since the 90s. Stop the flow of illegal drugs into the country and the whole country benefits and not just Chicago.
January 25, 20179 yr How is sending in the Feds going to clean it up? It will become a war and can you guarantee more innocent people won't get caught in the crossfire? What is his plan? The Feds gonna go door to door asking folks for their drugs and guns? What's the plan? Feds gonna just go chill on the corner? Why is asking for the true fix to the problem such an issue? Are innocent people getting caught up in it today?
January 25, 20179 yr Author Trump sending the Feds into Chicago would be an abuse of power. What should happen here is a combined effort by the leaders of Chicago, Illinois and D.C. to work on a solution. A good place to show how gov on all levels could work together. Maybe Trump's bluster is a way of getting everyone to do this. Thank you!!!! And I hope you are correct!!!

So the feds are getting involved and you take issue with it?
January 25, 20179 yr Author Are innocent people getting caught up in it today? Every single day and various ways. A mother losing her son to gang violence is an innocent person to me unless she forced him into a gang. Illegal drugs doesn't just affect those involved with illegal drugs. It affects families, friends, neighborhoods, etc.
January 25, 20179 yr Author I follow you and you have said that before. So the feds are getting involved and you take issue with it? Yes. Sending the Feds in isn't a permanent fix. It is a temporary fix. As I stated earlier, they can go in and arrest 10,000, hell, 100,000 criminals can be arrested peacefully. A month later there will be 100,000 new criminals doing the exact same thing the ones they replaced were doing and he'll have to keep sending the Feds back in. It is a dangerous cycle that has been repeating itself for decades. Instead of taking out what makes the cycle run(the illegal drugs) they want to take out the operators of the cycle(the people). That's backwards. If you take the wheels off a bicycle and remove all wheels from all stores then no one can ride the bike anymore.
January 25, 20179 yr There are millions and millions of black males in prison for drug charges. It doesn't have to be on gun charges alone. Forget about the gun part of the equation and think about the drug part. I know they will get guns illegally also but if the government can commit to getting drugs off of the street then they can commit to getting guns off of the street as well. They have to commit to getting drugs off the streets. Cocaine and heroin are manufactured in foreign countries. Then why is Chicago so different from say NYC?

The "Feds" in this case will be the FBI, Dept. of Justice, ATF, DEA, ICE...not SEAL Team 6. Haw many times were the "Feds" sent in over the last many years to look into police misconduct? Same Feds are who will be sent in to look at criminal behavior as well...and YES the President through the Justice Department can do that.
January 25, 20179 yr Yes. Sending the Feds in isn't a permanent fix. It is a temporary fix. As I stated earlier, they can go in and arrest 10,000, hell, 100,000 criminals can be arrested peacefully. How does that happen in a "Free Society" people will always find a way to break the law. I'd love for the drug flow to be shut off 100%, I'm just not sure how to do that or that it is even possible. Of course it is good to ask for this as it is an unattainable bar to reach and therefore we can keep blaming the flow of drugs on the failures of the President.
January 25, 20179 yr I for one am glad that Trump is tired of the way things have been done on the streets of Chicago and is motivated to do something different than what has been done for the last 8 years. I am glad that he wants people to obey the law and for violent criminals to be behind bars.
January 25, 20179 yr Author Then why is Chicago so different from say NYC? Not sure. My uninformed guess is that in Chicago gangs are more prevalent there. You have the Vicelords and the Gangsta Disciples in Chicago and both are very large organizations fighting over turf. In New York they don't have gangs in that same kind of aspect. You control your block in New York and for the most part territory is respected more in New York than in Chicago. Plus in Chicago in the gang land they will. Sorry out retribution missions and they are pretty much at war all of the time. In New York it is just a different mindset and environment.

I am glad that he wants people to obey the law and for violent criminals to be behind bars. They've been put behind bars since the 1980s. This violence in Chicago isn't new. It didn't start 8 years ago. It started in the 1980s when the Vicelords and Gangsta Disciples took over the drug trade. It's well documented.

I blame the flow of drugs on the entire government. And yes, you just made my whole point. Nothing will change until the flow of drugs is stopped. Again I ask you, do you think that simply sending in the Feds will be a permanent fix to the ills of Chicago and inner cities all across America?
