January 22, 20179 yr OK, I guess I am having a blockhead moment. I watched the clip with Trump's speech and I am not getting what the problem is. Can someone break it down for me? It was a bad attempt at a joke that can be viewed by some that he's open to invading Iraq again to take their oil. Dino Nova said it better than I did, though.
January 22, 20179 yr "Another chance" would require another war with Iraq to allow the seizure of the Iraqi oil fields. He made a bad joke, which is not an uncommon thing for Trump to do. To some, that joke shows that Trump is a war monger, despite the fact that he claimed to be opposed to the invasion of Iraq. Why not another chance from what is happening right now in the battle versus ISIS in western Iraq and Syria?
January 22, 20179 yr Why not another chance from what is happening right now in the battle versus ISIS in western Iraq and Syria?I think Trump's point to the CIA was that Bush should not have invaded Iraq (the record on Trump's opposition to that action is murky, at best), but that once we went to war to remove Hussein from power, our troops should have seized Iraqi assets to pay for our actions. Trump enjoys looking in the rear view mirror and claiming that he would not have made the foreign affairs mistakes that others made. The problem with those claims is that Trump's position before the Iraq War was not well documented and he gave conflicting interviews. I am not opposed to further military action to rid Iraq of ISIS, but it seems to me that Obama's hasty withdrawal from Iraq is what allowed ISIS to thrive. Maybe it would have been fair to insist that Iraq compensate us for ridding it of Saddam Hussein, but the people of Iraq did not deserve the scourge of ISIS and our government deserves a large part of the blame for ISIS. Collecting a debt from Iraq at this point by taking its main source of revenue would strike me as a bit harsh.
January 22, 20179 yr Author It wasn't just that comment although that comment is alarming. It's that he would say it in a revered place while also talking about how smart he is, how many magazine covers he's been on, selling everyone again on how big the inauguration crowd was, etc. All of the above are inappropriate and screams "out of touch" and "insecure."

He followed it by tweeting how much applause he received. I'm beginning to think this is all he cares about. :lol2:
January 22, 20179 yr Great job at misrepresenting another post! Those straw men don't put up much resistance, do they? :thumb: What exactly do you want? A hairsplitting game of nonsense on a pre-school level? I've said my thing, you've said yours... what more is there to say?
January 22, 20179 yr What exactly do you want? A hairsplitting game of nonsense on a pre-school level? I've said my thing, you've said yours... what more is there to say? No thanks. If I change my mind and decide to take you up on your offer of childish exchanges, then I will let you know - but that is not likely to happen. :lol2:

CLEARLY true !!!

We've seen this all too many times in authoritarian countries. I look for him to have one of those gigantic portraits of himself put on the sides of buildings in Washington.

It's no secret I doubt he can be a good POTUS. One of the main reasons is lack of focus and his obvious battle with insecurity. He met with members of Congress on Monday and , with no proof, mentioned that he lost the popular vote due to illegal votes. Only an insecure person would tell the CIA about magazine covers and tell Congress made up stories about the vote. You WON! Time to focus.

These apparent character flaws are my biggest worry about Trump. I wonder about his decision making if he has these issues with reality. But, there is always the caveat with Trump ... try to ignore what he says as much as possible because anything can come out of his mouth, and a lot of what comes out is just mind puke that even he doesn't plan on following through on.

See where ignoring Trump got you? Still not learned I see. Thats why you will continue to lose. These protests probably gained Trump several million votes for the next election.
