Actually, though, I have seen several different reports of the peaceful peotests, and interviews with peaceful protestors upset with the violence. I don't think that the news is covering only the violent ones, but Americans prefer to only pay attention to things that are bad.

Americans have the right to protest, but is there a good rationale for protesting against a man who won a lawful election and had not yet performed his first official act as president - particularly with the likelihood that you would be competing for news coverage with violent anarchists and other rebels without a legitimate cause? The problem with the widespread peaceful protests yesterday, IMO, was timing. There protests would have received more favorable coverage if they had been celebrating the peaceful, lawful transfer of power that occurs in this country every four to eight years. I have no doubt that Donald Trump will take actions that both conservatives and liberals will find protest-worthy over the next four years. The time to peacefully protest is when Congress begins debating legislation, a time that well attended demonstrations will receive favorable coverage and a time when the number of arsonists and anarchists armed with bricks, concrete, and bottles will likely be much smaller. Logically and politically, yesterday was the worst time to protest the actions of a newly elected President of the United States. Those who participated in peaceful protests, at best, struck me as left wing kooks. The rest of the protesters demanded and received most of the media coverage and through co-location, the peaceful protesters left themselves open to the application of guilt by association.

Also, a "peaceful" protest showed people locking arms and refusing to let people walk by, which just being "peaceful" but still disrupting society is still counterproductive, just as violent protests are.

People hate protests. Period. Violent. Peaceful. Disruptive. Non-disruptive. People hate protests and when people "whine". The Haves always hate when the Have Nots complain. Been that way since the beginning of time and will never change. There is no such thing as a protest by the Have Nots that the Haves will approve of. Ever.
