Gallatin County 74 Williamstown 70 8th region All A

Featured Replies

Gallatin trailed 57-45 with about 5:00 to play. They took the lead at 64-63 with 2:20 left and never trailed again.

Stanley with 40 and Wilson with 25 for GC.

Too much Wilson in the fourth combined with Williamstown letting off the gas- or being gassed- on offense.

I've been fortunate enough to see three really good games in three days this week.

Gallatin was dead in the water. They had absolutely no energy and the Williamstown bench, coaches, and fans were going absolutely insane.

It happened so fast it was almost surreal. Really amazing to watch.

I also saw something that I've never seen in my life, one of the referees started bleeding from his arm in the second quarter and there was a big discussion between Coach Jones and the referee over whether or not the referee could continue without getting it wrapped up and taped because if it were a player they be forced to leave the game. It really was an interesting discussion that I was able to overhear because it was sitting close to the scorers table.

@Clyde go ahead and enlighten with your vast knowledge of the rules. What happens if a referee is bleeding? What if he has blood on his referee shirt?

You are correct saying it happened so fast. GC outscored the Demons 19-7 in a 2:40 stretch to take the lead at 64-63.

I saw that exchange as well, it looked to me like coach pointed out the blood to him and I think he thought it must have been from one of the kids because he asked his partners to check the ones on the floor. After wiping it off it started bleeding again so he got a band-aid from the scorers table and played on. Coach was telling him he had to be replaced / leave the game. He (Jones) even asked someone up in the stands for the rule?

No idea about a rule but I think the spirit of the rule is no exchanging of blood borne pathogens. Ref should stop play and wear a bandaid. I saw sandlin (ref) hold up a game for 15 minutes until the correct cleaner was used.

I could watch these two teams battle it out for a season worth of games. Two great ones and a third coming up to end the month.

That game is what the All A is all about. Fun game, in a great environment.

Sounds like an Gallatin County 8th Region Tournament game to me.

It was the basketball equivalent of the rope-a-dope.

Think he is referring to 2012

That's a new one that I don't believe is covered.

So the official was bleeding but didn't go to the trainer to bandage it up?

He wiped it off with a towel, then eventually after a long discussion between himself and Coach Jones he then decided to get a Band-Aid. But for a few minutes nobody really knew what to do. What if it would've gone further and there was blood on his referee shirt?

I knew we would have some good games in the All A, these 2 have been the most consistent teams this year, I look for both to be in the regional tournament in March. I will say they both are capable of knocking someone off, especially if Walton were to draw someone from the Gallatin district. I could see Walton giving Simon fits because they have a big to match up with Kelch.
