Is Mason County giving special treatment to basketball players?

Featured Replies

I agree with you that schools should not regulate student social media accounts and given that context has Mason County done anything wrong or is this nothing more than the actions of one student?

I don't think these questions is congruent.....

Has Mason County done anything wrong ? Doesn't appear to have done anything, so I would say no. But I'll bet the next school board meeting something comes up about social media monitoring....

Is this nothing more than the actions of one student ? While there is truth in the answer Yes, there appears to be a little more of a pattern emerging with this particular team of students than we see at other schools.

He tweeted it out for the world to see. I'm not saying the coach should kick him off the team, but when you have players openly acting like that I'm not sure what kind of respect they have for you as a coach/leader. Clearly they don't care about the rules.

Oh, I'm in complete agreement with you on this one.

He's talking about the post he quoted which was yours.

Glad you said it, I wanted to, but left that softball for you to hit out of the park.

@guru....you hear something bro ?

@lawildcat....someone ring your bell ?

Is the super making a bad choice here, probably. Is this kid making a bad choice, most def. Should someone be stepping up to educate him, most def.

Definitely a teachable moment going by the wayside here... will not be that way in the Dawghouse tonight. My children attend Mason, and this will be discussed tonight, especially with the DD who will be at the HS next year.

There have been numerous things these past two years that have happened with the basketball team. Not just this one.

I could name some right now:

1) Pig Williams incident before state

2) One player being suspended for summer games and then trying to move

3) Last year a player tweeted Buddy Biggs is the worst coach he's ever played for and was still on the team

Just a few.

The player who was suspended over the summer was the same one with the recent tweets. This was an incident that happened in the classroom.

Wasn't Pig suspended last year? And this year, a player was suspended for some games after an on-the-court incident. Kids aren't just running amok in this program from what I can see (from afar).

Also a few players last year got caught stealing illegal "stuff" from a gas station.

Going ahead and listing a bunch of other stuff you don't like about the program that don't have anything to do with twitter=axe to grind.

Not sure how you can jump off this train while it's careening down this path, but....

1) This tweet broke the school's rules of sexual harassment (which I'm sure they have

2)This was tweeted during school, at school, to another student at school

3)If he would have said this in person in the hallway, is there really a difference than saying it on Twitter? It's out there for the world to see. Both are on school grounds, during school hours.

@guru....you hear something bro ?

@lawildcat....someone ring your bell ?

I pay $20 a year to say whatever the heck I want here, BRO. :stop:

At least he knows your name...

Come on, this is over the line when you start naming kids. How can you let this person keep doing this? This cannot become that kind of place.

I have not and will not say the names of the players. My frustration was more directed at the Mason County administration.

Take it up with them and don't hide behind some social media name. Too easy for you to do it this way. No courage.
I would take it up with them. But they wouldn't do anything about it.

I think we have covered this enough.

If/when new information surfaces we can revisit the topic.
