Werent you the one saying PSU should be in the playoff? Now that I'm saying it it's ridiculous? The SEC, ACC, B1G, etc. aren't schools. Chant Go Duke, Roll Tide, Geaux Tigers, whatever I don't care. But don't chant SEC, ACC, etc. I just want people to root for their schools and root against their rivals. Is that too much to ask. What happened to good old fashioned hatred of your rivals instead of cheering for them because of some silly illusion that it makes your team look better.

When I lived in central Indiana during most of the 90's I heard about how great the Big 10 was almost daily, football and basketball. So yeah the SEC doesn't have the market cornered, they just stick together better than most other leagues fans.

So basically what I'm hearing is that it's not SEC exclusive, but that mediocre teams in every conference piggy back off the success of the good teams. While the good teams roll their eyes at them. I personally have only heard the SEC chanting though.

I think outside of the biggest rivals, like Alabama and Auburn, most teams fan bases root for each other during bowl season. I don't understand 1) why that bothers, frustrates or obsesses you and 2) why you wouldn't root for teams in your own league when playing outsiders?

 

I'm not a fan of the local 5A school that's a mile across town, but when they play a team from NKY or other areas of KY in the playoffs, I support the local boys...same thing here.

 

In our BGP Fantasy Football League we all root for someone from our own conference to win the Title instead of those mouth breathers in that other conference.

 

Look at High School Basketball on BGP, most people during tourney time are rooting for the team from their Region...the same team that may have beaten them earlier in the playoffs...is that so hard to understand that you would support the teams that you know the best and play against when facing outside opponents?

I think your spot on for the most part. But your forgetting that hatred is a powerful thing, GrantNKY seems to have a lot of hatred for several teams and most likely an entire conference.
