The SEC didn't win a championship last year for the love of God. Their a conference. Nobody plays football for the SEC they play football for Bama, etc. Bama won a championship. I'm tired of hearing that the SEC won a NC last year.

I personally think judging conference strength on bowl games is silly because of the many variables that go into playing said games. In fairness there are not many opportunities to pit conferences against one another, so most use that as the annual litmus test. Well, GrantNKY doesn't see conference titles by names, so he and I are the exceptions (but for different reasons ).

I said Penn State should've been in the playoff because they should've been.

 

Also, why do you care who or what people root for? I'd prefer to spend my energy worrying about my team than concerning myself on who everyone else is rooting for.

 

As far as the hatred part, I'd say people grow up and realize it's sports, and hating a team or school or whatever is insanely ridiculous.

It's a lot more fun to hate on Michigan and Alabama than it is to dislike them. You're right it is just sports, and in the end it doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but neither does really anything people choose to spend their time on outside of family, career, etc. but just because it doesn't mean anything doesn't mean you can't have fun with it. Hatred for Michigan is fun. Not as fun as rooting for Ohio State, but when OSU isn't playing it's fun to have something to root for or in this case against.

Look at the matchups. The matchups are heavily skewed. You'll have the 4th place SEC school playing the 7th place ACC school, etc. bowl record is a horrible indicator. The only reason I bring it up this year is because everyone used it as an argument for the SEC last year.

True, many variables. Just like last night had a 5th place team from the west playing a conference title game participant. Games aren't always evenly matched...but if you are touting this season's bowl record as evidence SEC stinks then he must also accept last year's as evidence they didnt.

The ironic thing is tOSU got into the playoff because of the strength of the B1G. The best conference. The B1G's fear was that a couple of SEC schools would take up the playoff slots because of the (perceived) strength of the conference. But only the SEC rallies behind conference pride...

They got in because they beat 3 teams that fininshed inside the top 8 in the rankings has nothing to do with the fact that the B1G was better this year. If OSU didn't play OU OOC they wouldn't have been in the playoff.

I can't stand the thought of rooting for FSU, so I choose to root against Michigan. Hate is the second strongest emotion behind love so unless you love a team it's more fun to root against a team.
