Jimbo to remain at FSU through 2024

Any money added to assistant's pay? That seemed to be an issue for him at one point, he couldn't pay them more.

Good question. I know he got Charles Kelly the DC gig last year.

Just because he signed an extension, doesn't mean he'll stay at FSU. Could still leave for another role if he wants. Don't know where that could be, but still a possibility.

5.75 mil a year is a pretty good gig. Be hard to walk away from that much money.

Tomahawk Nation goes into more detail about the contract - Breakdown: Jimbo Fisher’s new contract extension with Florida State - Tomahawk Nation

A couple of main notes:

-The buyout on Fisher's contract is the sum of all money remaining on his assistant coaches contracts that are not retained by the university. For instance, Charles Kelly has four more years on a five year deal that was worth $3,545,300. That's about $700K a season. So if he wasn't retained, it would be however much he had left - so say it was 3 years, his portion of the buyout would be $2.1 million. They estimate that the buyout number could be around $10M-$15M if that were ever to happen. And the impact being that it makes it safer for the school to give raises to the assistants without being at risk of being stuck paying them or buying them out if Jimbo left. This is a good thing for both parties.

-If Jimbo were fired, the buyout on his contract from an FSU standpoint is he is owed the entire thing. So essentially in signing this, Jimbo guaranteed himself somewhere around $50-55 million dollars if he stays or is fired.

This doesn't guarantee Jimbo stays, but long-term, it's quite lucrative for him, and each side gains a lot out of this IMO.

Not wth that buyout. There's only one school that can compete with that money and Sabah isn't leaving anytime soon

Define soon? I think Saban sees the '17 class through graduation and he's gone.

Saban isn't leaving within the next 10 years

He is 65 years old. No way he coaches 10 more years.

I'm sure the same was said about JoePa and Bowden

Saban is not Paterno or Bowden. Saban is not tied to Alabama in the way those 2 guys were tied to their schools.

I will disagree. But we shall see

LSU wanted him and couldn't get him. I imagine that if the one school that has a soft spot and the money for Jimbo can't get him away from FSU then for the next several years it will be hard for anyone to get him.

I also wonder if his recent divorce played into his thought process to stay at FSU. Ex-wife and kid are still in Tallahassee. He leaves they won't be coming with him.
