December 19, 20169 yr How do you think the electric bill, pastors salary, church programs, insurance and gas for the church van are paid? I know a lot of people that can't afford 10% but still give what they can so their church can pay their day to day bills and remain open. And lawsuits and sweet houses? Some churches are good for the community and if it makes people feel good to give to the church, it doesn't affect me one way or the other. But a lot of these churches are scams and have ulterior motives.
December 19, 20169 yr At least 20% if the service is good. Speaking of tipping, how much do you folks tip at a car wash? Not a detail, just the folks that wipe down the inside and windows after it's washed? I usually start with a 5 in my pocket but it ends up going to a 10 after I watch them do the underarmour, etc. I start feeling guilty watching them do what I hate to do.
December 19, 20169 yr You are taught to Tithe your church 10% of your income. I don't think anyone would ever tip a waitress 10% of their income? It's up to 20% of the current bill. a restaurant is kinda one and done. A church is not. This. Additionally, I would say that the tithe is a test of trust. It's not like God needs the 10%. And technically, it all belongs to Him anyway. The waitress, on the other hand, does need the 20%. If I don't like that standard of tipping then I need to eat at places where tipping isn't a part of the meal.
December 19, 20169 yr The one I can never figure out is the cab, they never seem happy in most cities, but I try and tip them 10 to 20 per cent. I always tip the sky caps at the airport, they are out in the cold and I enjoy using them for the convenience, plus they make like 2.50 and hour, the same as the wheel chair attendents, they make very little. Always give to church regulary, in my eyes, it all belongs to God anyway.
December 19, 20169 yr If my service is fine, I calculate 20% and round up to the nearest dollar. So if the bill is $27.00, they get $6. I never tip less than 15% unless all three things are in play: a) the service is HORRIBLE; b) I'm never going to be in this place again, and c) I'm paying cash.

December 19, 20169 yr I dont tip on %. I tip on quality of service. If my waitress or waiter takes my order and brings my drinks but then different people bring me my food and condiments and I never see my server again until its time for the check. They need not expect a lot.

But a lot of these churches are scams and have ulterior motives. I'll guarantee the average pastor doesn't live in a home like that. I'm not talking about a handful of TV Preatchers, but average church's our here in our communities. Do you go to church regularly? If so, do you decide not to tithe because you think your church is running a scam? If you don't attend church then this really doesn't impact you in anyway, if you do and don't tithe because you feel your church is a scam...well you need to change churches.
December 19, 20169 yr I tip 20% then round up so my total bill is an even #. 15% if you didn't really do much for me other than bring me my food and drink. You have to be really bad for me to drop down to 10%.
December 19, 20169 yr i said I didn't tithe. I still regularly give an amount If you give regularly, that is tithing. The amount or percent doesn't matter.
December 19, 20169 yr If you give regularly, that is tithing. The amount or percent doesn't matter. The question was tithing at 10%. That's where I was going.
December 19, 20169 yr The question was tithing at 10%. That's where I was going. Gotcha I am one in the chain that verifies and deposits our offering each week, there are many that don't or can't give 10% but they give what they do or can each week. Without those weekly offerings we couldn't pay our bills. I took your original post that you didn't give anything unless there was a special request...my bad, for misunderstanding.

I am not a regular church goer which is why I said if it makes people feel better to give to the church, it doesn't affect me one or other. Almost all the churches are good for the community. But just like life, there are some that abuse the system and make the rest of them look bad. BTW, I am a good tipper. I usually start at 15% and work my way up.
December 19, 20169 yr I tip 20% then round up so my total bill is an even #. I used to do that too, then I read an article once on a plane about how it is selfish to worry more about making it easy for you, versus making it easy for them at the end of a shift. Now I always tip a whole dollar amount.
