For Bracken the decision is simple, why should they give St. Pat and Augusta their biggest gate every year if they won't seed? For St. Pat and Augusta it is not an issue of draw or seed but a money issue. By voting to draw, they have made that clear. So Bracken hit them where it hurt most, the pocket book. By refusing to play at Augusta and at St. Pat they have taken away what is routinely both schools biggest gates (not counting Mason going to St. Pat for the first time in 50 years this year- and something Mason won't do again). Bracken did not cancel the series with Augusta and St. Pat, they simply said all games will be in the Igloo until the district is seeded. St. Pat and Augusta chose not to play them on the road because financially it doesn't benefit them. I don't blame the people in charge in Brooksville one bit, it does them zero good to go to those two places when the result means absolutely nothing except helping the other two schools financially. In short, there will be no regular season games outside of Brooksville between Bracken and the other two schools until the district is seeded, just like 60 of the other 64 districts in the state.

 

IMO. If the public bullying-demeaning tactic was derived from the strategy of depriving Augusta of its biggest gate of the year, it could not have been more poorly thought through and was dead before it oozed from a cesspool of intellectual ineptitude.

1). The Augusta/Bracken Co. rivalry has been great for both teams and their fans long before the current decision makers were born.

2). The great crowds exist because its Ky HS basketball between two respectful, neighboring rivals.

3). The Augusta crowd traveling to Brooksville dwarfs the reciprocal crowd that travels to Augusta. Bracken's biggest regular season crowd annually has been Augusta and the Augusta crowd in Brooksville regularly fills as many seats as the Bears do on their side.

4). The Bracken crowd in Augusta would not exceed 200 bringing a gate increase of $600-800. Compare that to the 10th Region annual payout and it is a meaningless loss.

5). Ignoring the proper path of taking it to the KHSAA board for consideration of change and attempting to work within the system and deciding to muscle-up like a bully does little but strengthen the smaller schools staunchness and resolve in doing what they believe is best for their schools.

Rarely does.....ready-fire-aim hit the target.

Seriously the games, home and away, are a good crowd, good time and are missed all over the county. But until the powers that be change their stance, we wait for early February and that all important, possibly season changing, draw.

Probably nothing more to add to the game papa. Just more BC bashing and is BC faithful standing up for the program.

 

Big games are what we need to get the team ready for the post season. Big crowds are nice but the crowd isn't suiting up to play. So that aspect matters none.

 

As for being tired of losing to A-town, the Panthers had a helluva run and were applauded every step of the way on their accomplishments at least by this BC fan. But those days are over and It's a 2 horse race in the 39th. Granted there will be an upset from time to time and you just have to tip your cap and move on.

 

As for the season changing draw? I'll ask the same question I've asked 1000 times. Why leave your season up to chance? Go out there and earn your spot. Make your season district games worth something. If teams aren't willing to do that then why should those games that mean absolutely nothing be played especially if it doesn't help your team get better with strong competition.

 

Like someone else told me the other day "Until this district gets its :poop: together and seeds then we have 30 scrimmages till postseason play starts because these games at the end of the day don't carry any merit.
