Johnson Central @ Lawrence Co. Predictions

#40, #23,#11 , are all beast that will completly take over this game for L.c. The emory kid is a great player that leads the team in tackles...he is a undersize linebacker but his performance and determination makes up for it. Roberts is undersize at 5'6 but has the heart of a giant! He is almost a guarantee for 100+ rushing yards a game and 10 tackles on defense a game..Your looking at the most under rated player in the state. #11 is a GREAT player also..he is not the quickest or the strongest but he does his job and brings alot to the team on and off the field, hes a great young man! I thought you would know I was being sarcastic in my entrys but one thing for sure is, You'll know these 3 guys are on the field punishing ball runners regardless of the outcome of the game. I'll take my dawgs in this one anyways and say 18-16 in a MAJOR upset here at home in the pound!

L.C. by as many as they want! J.c. appears to be to weak and the dawgs will dominate them very easy.. the younger dawgs will have lots of playing time in this one..

I agree tatertot. There is nothing wrong with getting beat by a better team. If you get beat, and every player and coach tries as hard as they can, that team can hold their head high... even in defeat.

Fancy formations? Why wouldn't they stick to what's working?

A full house back field and the I-formation is a "fancy formation"?

When is the last time that you've seen Johnson Central run a straight I-formation under Jim Matney? Also JC run's most of there formations out of the wishbone and a I-wing formation. These formations are considered full house backfield formations because the have three backs and four if you're counting the QB. A full house backfield is not a fancy formation. It's a very common formation ran in high school, college, and it's even showing up more at the professional level. Johnson Central over the last two years and through four games this season under Jim Matney have averaged 37 points a game. Why would they go away from there bread & butter to a "fancy formation" now? To think that they might makes no sense to me.

The term fancy formation might have been the wrong one to use. The point I was trying to get across is... there is no need to show anything to the district that doesnt need to be. If JC is winning by 35 points or more, it would be smart for JC to use there 2nd string and keep the offense simple. :p

With all the confidence maybe they shouldn't even play the game. I think Central is a BIG favorite in this game but LC has played teams like Belfry to the wire when they won it all and I don't think Central is leaps and bounds ahead of the Belfry program by any means.

I hope LC comes out and plays their game. There have been much bigger upsets at Luke Varney than this one would be but a win like this one would be a win that could send the LC program back into a dominant team over time. It all started with the snowball effect in 1990 off of one big win at Raceland. Once things get rolling in Louisa people jump on board quick. The kids need to believe in themesleves and their coaches. They need to go out and be proud of the name that is on their uniforms.

I think Central is the team to beat in the District and possibly Region but LC has played a GREAT schedule over the last few years. It would be nice to see that pay off this week.

I think JC is around a 30 point favorite according to the power rankings in the paper but if LC is able to hang in early (which they have with about everybody) then it only takes a turnover/break here and there.

Good luck to both teams! I hope it is closer than predicted.

I agree with some of what you are saying, the turnover and breaks here and there can beat any team. Does anybody know what kind of depth LC has?

Not enough for this game.

I look for JC to have several quick scores in the 1st and 2nd quarter. Then I look for JC to have some drives that last 8 or 9 minutes. Getting into district play, JC has to be able to control the clock.

I think that we are more of a sustained drive team this season. I love Grimm's running style, very hardnosed. Last year Ron's speed was a threat to break it every time. Grimm's not as fast, but much more durable. Grimm has broke a few big runs this season, but he's definately a more "power" runner than Ron was.

And then you've got big Blake Johnson. He's all power! Not much breakaway speed there.

Long drives, eat-up the clock and keep LC's offense on the sidelines. Thats what I'd like to see.

I agree with you. Getting quick td's breaks a team's spirit. Not being able to stop a team on long drives does even more damage. When I play madden, I will take the entire quarter to score, sometimes longer. That makes the person I'm playing mad. I would like to see JC keep the ball for an entire quarter, even though it might be a boring game.

Does anybody know what kind of shape Lawrence County's field is in. I know it is grass, but I didnt know how well it drains. We have had some rain today, and supposed to have rain tomorrow. Just curious.

I agree. Johnson Central will win this one by as much as Matney allows.
