Good enough then, I know where you were going, and I'm pretty sure you knew what my point was.

No. CPC has NCC/CCH, but I am doing a friend a favor and will be at Princeton tomorrow night...

Have some fun over there. I noticed a ton of games on both sides of the river are being played tommorrow.

I have another question here. Can anyone name the last time Beechwood was shutout? I can't remember.

It said in the Post, 99' (17-0 to Bellevue).

This is correct.

The game was exciting to watch, even tho the score might say otherwise. The Tigers Defense did a great job, and the O managed as best they could against the blitz. Seemed like every play, Alter had 15 defenders for each of our O-line.

This game is over....now let's just work hard for next week!

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!

UUUUHHHHMMMM. . . . . .Yeah . . . . .

There may be one team in NKY that could beat them. MAYBE.

Pretty typical response from Oldbird . . . . . . imagine that . . . .

You may want to actually see Alter before you try to discredit my assessment.

I have seen a lot of football--and Alter has one of the best defenses that I have ever seen. BIG and FAST . . . . and PHYSICAL.

How good is their offense if Beechwood held them to 3?

How good is their offense if Beechwood held them to 3?

Good question . . .

A couple points:

1. Alter runs 95% of the time.

2. Beechwood is very solid against the run

3. Offense for Alter . . . . . okay. But--they don't care about offense all that much.

4. Alter kills their selves with offensive penalties

5. Alter wins with field position (great kicker/punter), then defense makes you lose yards on every play. (They have given up 3 points all year).

6. Wishbone 90% of time . . . . with 2 GREAT backs.

In all fairness, Beechwood roughed them up offensively (with their defense). But I am not real sure that anyone has given Beechwood enough credit defensively either (especially against the run). I think Beechwood had about 20 yards total offense--and that is the most that anyone has gotten against them this year.

Alter wants to grind you down and make you tired, get field position--then play with a short field. They don't care if they win 3-0 or 33-0. Defense is what they care about. And if they don't score on offense--they will on defense.

So you don't think Cov. Cath and Highland's defenses could hold an offense that you describe as "okay"? Highlands defense is worlds better than Beechwoods and IMO Cov. Cath. has looked pretty solid the two outings I have seen them.

I feel like Highlands could beat them--for one reason--speed. They are either almost as fast as Alter--or as fast.

After watching Cov Cath again tonight (for the 3 time this year)--they would RARELY get a pass off (that is not a joke--remember--Alter has recently beat a Col. Desales team that one of those NKY teams could not beat). I am not giving Alter more credit than they deserve. They are good enough to play man/press on every play--and never get beat. They hit the receivers in the mouth off the line . . . . . and roll from there. They get more pressure than any team that I have seen in a long time . . . . .

The only reason why I think that Highlands would end up beating them revolves around the fact that they are "nearly" as fast as Alter.

The key point is--they play a different type of football in Ohio (I am still learning how different Ohio really is). It is more about field position and shortening the game. In Ky--we are in a phase where everyone is trying to score a bunch of points. Alter could care less about that philosphy. They know that every game that they play is going to be close--and that their defense is what pays the bills.

quick,

Did Beechwood sustain any injuries in the game with Alter?

Nothing more than some knicks/bruises (thank goodness).

And for the record--I was wrong about Alter beating Desales last year--they lost 17-0 on 2 punt returns (for TDs) and another score that I am not sure about.
