How has your life been effected under our last President?

A couple of things: Hospitals will work with you to set up payments. Hospitals also can help find some charitable sources to help defray the costs to patients. These 2 things I know for a fact.

And as papa asks, if you scrap AHCA and this family now has no coverge at all, how does that help the family?

Multiply that by millions of households and the charities can't help everyone.

Sure, hospitals will set up a payment plan, will it be affordable to the family? If they are scraping by, how does this help them?

I'd love to see "AFFORDABLE" healthcare insurance. The ACA is snything but for millions.

Let's not forget, most of those 20 million were added to the Medicaid rolls. They aren't paying into the system but drawing out.

I understand the 20 M and everything that goes with it. Should the citizens of the wealthiest country be able to have health care or not? If not, say so, then I understand what you are disagreeing because it will COST if everyone does.

Serious question.

How will scrapping the AHCA help this family out?

Replace it with something that is truly affordable with realistic deductibles.

I'm 56, why do I need to pay for women's services? I don't need them. I should be able to pick a plan that doesn't have that.

Didn't read all of this , didn't need to after reading that some are still making apologies for the ACA . Must be worshippers of Obama or the Democrat party , or ??? I'm not sure . Insane ?

Let's cut out those that are unwilling to work and keep it for the working poor, elderly and children.

Not a problem but it will still cost a lot more.

I only worship one God. Insane??? Verdict is still out, but don't ask my wife. She's biased. I do run a business. Prior to the ACA our premiums were going up by double digits every year. Since the ACA they have been flat. That is a fact. It has added thousands to the bottom line of my business. It means that no employee of mine has seen an increase of one cent in their healthcare cost. I may be crazy, but I am right about the ACA. It has been good for the country. Is health insurance still too costly for some? Absolutely. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Make the good better.

I have a church member that is an employer who loves it. He was able to give his workers an insurance policy for the first time as part of their package.

On a personal note, it has cost me. My problem was with the new tax law added to ACA.

My church has always paid my families' health insurance as part of my package. I've always had the family insurance through my wife's employer which is the local County school system. (Group rates, better plan, less in premium, etc)

With ACA, this money (which was tax exempt in the past as support) is not taxable income. Why?

Because I get my insurance through a different employer and am then paid (reimbursed) for the premium.

If I took out an ACA policy, the premiums would be tax exempt. :banghead:

Other than that, I don't see any effect. I will say that things seem better than 2008 when the big bank collapse almost occurred.

Ok if none of those people saw an increase they had to get moved to Medicaid -- Thats NOT good for our country . We cant have this " it was good for me " so the huge majority must be wrong mentality . Its a huge loser for the overwhelming majority of Americans but still yet people take up for it .. to paraphrase Jonathon Gruber " we relied on the stupidity of the American electorate " . That sums it up .

I own a business , and run it also , no way in Hades I can over up coverage , which i used to provide until 2-3 years ago . But IF .. IF you do get coverage average Americans cant afford the premium plus the deductible . Its become UNaffordable in 2-3 years .

None of my employees get Medicaid. Since the vast majority of people get private insurance through employers, keeping the lid on prices for employer based plans is good for the country. If it was bad for your company, I'm sorry but I believe that it was good for most people and most companies. Most of the business people I talk to think they must be the exception since it didn't hurt them. After all, they hear a lot more from the naysayers.

I am of the opinion that insurance premiums should be tax deductible, regardless of source. That is one of the things that should be fixed. The ACA didn't break that provision, but it also didn't fix it.

Agreed.

I think one thing that gets lost in all the rhetoric is that AHCA has made access to preventative and wellness medical visits much more affordable.

Not a problem but it will still cost a lot more.

Not if we can weed out the freeloaders.
