In the end, I think Pres Trump will give us plenty to gnash our teeth on via policy. I don't think this living arrangement is something that is worth getting all worked up about.

If you had a problem with all of the lavish vacations that Michelle Obama and her children took separately from President Obama, which I did, then you should be equally critical of the Trumps' decision to spare no expense to taxpayers in maintaining multiple residences.

I'm basing my 180 million on how they said Baron will finish school and then move to the White House. 6 months left in the school year starting in January. 180 days. 180 million.

Not really so Hmmm.... interesting after all. Read something about Trump not being able to use the oval office for an extended period of time because of some hardwiring and other electronic upgrades needed so he'll need to be working elsewhere anyway.

Cleveland got a pile of money to help with security for the RNC this summer from the Feds, so I think this is common place.

I do not like seeing our elected officials treated like royalty, no matter what their party affiliation is.

 

Well you know it's not about treating them like Royalty, it's about Protecting their Lives. Like it or not, our President and his Family are prime targets for many crazies out there...regardless of their party affiliation.

 

I don't think I have ever or will ever, complain about their protection. Every President (except Johnson) has had an active plot or attempt made on their life...it goes with the job. We owe it to the President to protect him or her and their family to the fullest level possible.

Yea. I'm a budget Hawk but you will never hear me complain about securing the saftey of our president.

Nice straw man argument.. Nobody said that or president or his family do not deserve protection. My point is that they have a duty not to make that protection unreasonably difficult and expensive with a "money is no object" attitude with their lavish lifestyles.

 

Numerous separate vacations by the president and the Royal,,,I mean First Family, in difficult to secure locations are irresponsible, IMO. Motorcades and security in crowded venues do not come cheap. Setting a good example by being good stewards off the taxpayers's money seems to have fallen out of style, but it is still the right thing to do.
