Seems like the refs blew the grounding call in the first half.

You know, I agree with you. The announcers were not totally correct in their call, however, but it should probably have not been intentional grounding. The ball did not cross the line of scrimmage while "in bounds". However, Henschen was outside the tackle box because the ball was snapped from the right hash mark (as I understand the rule). A lot of conditions have to be met for it to be intentional grounding. However, I'm not a ref.

It's funny how NCC fans are on here complaining about officiating/TD. I didn't see you posting last year when Danville had two TD's called back and lost by 8. How's it feel??? We didn't post anything last year about it and moved on... do the same. Congrats to HC, see you next week for a good game.

Outside the tackle box is not a rule in high school. You can't throw a ball away purposely outside the tackle box. If you throw it away clearly out of bounds, it is intentional grounding. You still have to throw it toward/near a receiver in high school.

Thanks for the clarification VOR. In that case, I guess it was a good call since all the other elements of intentional grounding were there. I was standing at the line of scrimmage (the NCC 13) when the ball sailed over me slightly to the right of me. In the video, you can see that the NCC WR was further downfield.

So the ref's got the Intentional Grounding call right and the fumble sorted out correctly? Can HC finally get credit for being a better more talented team last night?

Just finished watching play six times. Sorry to see NCC competitors so upset about correct call by officials. When Freppon recovered (looked to me like both his knees were on ground) and got up to retreat and run around the stack, not a single NCC guy threw a block, accompanied him down the field; nor, did a single official follow him down the field; nor, did a single HC player acknowledge his action and make any defensive effort. All signs that the action had been blown dead by officials. No whistle was heard all night on the film, so one would not expect to have heard the whistle on this play. When 21 players and a full officiating crew make zero movements to support a live ball recovery and return, there had to be a reason...its called the whistle. Congrats to officials for huddling calmly and getting it right. Congrats to the NCC players for fighting to the end (especially Freppon). Congrats to HC for a well earned playoff victory. No congrats to the Breds fans looking to be victims rather then acknowledging defeat on the battlefield at the hands of a previously vanguished foe. You guys at NCC have always been pretty classy in both victory and defeat. Don't play the victim card, enough of that garbage happening in our society today.

I am sure it was easy to see rewinding it 6x, lol. Sounds like you are right the knee might have been down. The concern , if you were at the game, was during the play the refs made no arm motions and we did not hear the whistle due to excitement and shouting, but even several people on the side lines did not hear a whistle either. So the play went on. It was obvious that it took the refs time to figure out where the ball was and exactly what happened lol. So they had to make a guess about it. There had been earlier bad calls and ball placement. That is why it was questioned so much. Any team would have some concerns about the call. It's over and done. As I had said yesterday HC out played us and we had and missed several opportunities. We are very young and will be fine. Wish HC the best next week against Danville.

I believe almost everyone would have said before the game last night that Holy Cross is more talented than New Cath. The question was whether they were a better football team and could beat New Cath. Holy Cross got that done last night and deserve all the praise they earned with a big win.

You know, you would think at this time of the year(playoff's) that KHSAA would put together crew's that knew what the hell they where doing, those clown's friday were absolutely clueless, there's only a few game's going on, you have the best team's playing so you would think the officiating crew's would be the same, embarrassing, feel bad for the Bred's it should have been a win(ugly) win but a win.

How bout you stop blaming the refs and you start giving holy cross credit.. because NCC gets down to the 5 1st and goal and holy cross stops them from scoring all 4 times... holy cross won this game And the refs made the right call at the end of the game.. get over it.

This Breds fan agrees.

What? your not allowed to voice an opinion on here? I'm just sticking up for the little boys that HC running backs ran all over, Right?

WOW Lawnboy really?

As far as intentional grounding goes there is no such thing as a tackle box.. so even if the quarterback in high school is outside of The Tackle Box it is still intentional grounding. The Tackle Box is only good for college and professional, not high school.

You most certainly are, but blaming the Ref's has been :deadhorse:
