So much for Anti-Establishment

Featured Replies

I'm not sure of Pence's and Christie's relationship but I have to imagine that Christie's role in the Trump administration is in Pence's hands.

Early reports of the Trump administration are that he didn't expect to win and will listen to what the experienced people around him tell him to do. Getting elected was the easy part. Now it is time for him to lead. To be honest I am encouraged by this news because if he truly is anti-establishment then we may really see some change in this country. However, I don't expect any one person to be capable of changing the machine that is D.C.

You see how fast the Republican Party turned into Trump fans once they saw he won? Everyone is friends again and the true seasoned, career politicians smell blood and they are all scrambling for the highest position they can get in this administration. I expect to see Newt Gingrich get Chief of Staff and if he and Pence can co-exist then some interesting times will be ahead. The career politicians will run the show for sure. I think that is easy to see.

I have no issue with any successful politician surrounding himself with experienced people. My issue with the establishment is their transparent attempts to fix elections by putting arcane systems in place to make it almost impossible for challengers to unseat incumbents. I cringe every time that I read someone advocating that incumbent politicians pass "campaign finance reform" bills.

The GOP did not intend to nominate Trump - he beat their carefully designed system. The GOP establishment attempted to give Jeb Bush as smooth a path to the nomination as the Demcrats gave Hillary. Trump threw a wrench into the works when Jeb fell apart in the face of Trump's barrage of personal insults.

Now that Trump has won, I hope that he does surround himself with experienced people. Jimmy Carter brought a lot of decent people with no federal experience from Georgia and it did not work out well for him. Experience in every large organization, including the federal government is a valuable commodity.

I do hope that Trump does not give political hacks like Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, and Mike Huckabee too much power in the new administration. If I were Trump, I would load up on recently retired high ranking military officers in my administration. There is no larger reservoir of patriotic Americans with outstanding leadership and organizational skills than our military ranks, IMO.

Still as true today as when he first said the words.

Agree 100% with you. ( although that could be a first). Only kidding with you. :)

"Elections have consequences – and at the end of the day, I won."- President Obama

I agree whole-heartedly. So...

1. Wall

2. Jobs

3. Repeal ObamaCare

4. Convict criminal

5. Drain the swamp.

You do not know how much I love this. Words cannot express the sheer joy of the meltdown thats going on. :dancingpa

Can we all agree that term limits isn't going happen?

Of course. I think we need them to protect ourselves from ourselves (since we seem incapable of walking away from some incredibly corrupt people), but would you vote yourself onto the unemployment line? And by a 3/4 majority at that?!

We don't need term limits. We need voters to do their job. Our ability to vote every 2-4-6 years should make the need for term limits unneccessary.

I'm saying the same thing as you. That's where the "protect ourselves from ourselves" thing comes in. The collective "we" never seem to do that job. Some of the people who have been in Washington more than half their lives should've been sent packing a long time ago, but they're often rubber stamped.

But yet imposing term limits is one of the things his supporters say appealed them to him. #draintheswamp

I'm loving it too. The fact you and many others hitched your wagons to lies. Heck, 1,3,4, and 5 are already compromised and he ain't taken office. This will be an awesome 4 years on the offensive if they keep this thread open... But my guess is some won't be able to take it and will be shut down , which is ironic.

Kind of like you and so many others hitched to the "Change" wagon of lies 8 years ago?

I wasn't on here 8 years ago. Been on here for two and I've seen enough to know karma will be NICE.
