November 11, 20169 yr They broke the law. If you get caught speeding, you have to pay a fine. They are no better than you or I. Look I get it...they are breaking the law. In my opinion (which apparently is way wrong, and not even worth considering), a fine serves no purpose, rights no wrong, and doesn't improve the situation in any way, nor does it serve as a deterrent. Our goal is to do one of two things...either have the illegal immigrant get legal, or go home. A fine doesn't help us advance in either direction, and arguably makes achieving either desirable outcome more difficult. That's why I don't think comparing speeding to illegal immigration is a good comparison or a reason to justify a fine. A fine is a big deterrent for me to driving too fast. I've gotten one in my life and haven't had one in 25 years. When you're dealing with people that are trying to change their lives for the better, it's much more difficult for fine to change that person's mindset. I know I'm in the minority here on this issue. But I don't understand the venom and vindictiveness that we have for these folks, and why we feel the need to punish them harshly. And again, I'm not talking about the criminals and ones that are here who are up to no good. I'm all for getting rid of those folks. Call me a bleeding heart or whatever...I just think a more humanitarian approach would be much more effective.
November 11, 20169 yr So one must specify when they say illegal immigrants? I have seen many posts that say illegal immigrants. They don't specify Hispanics or Muslims. You have no way of knowing what they mean. Maybe the posters aren't the ones with the bias. Are you implying that even when every single time we discuss this here the focus is ONLY on Mexicans and Muslims, one couldn't form the opinion that these are the only demographics that people are concerned with?
November 11, 20169 yr Are we deporting white illegal immigrants too, or just Mexicans and Muslims? We have already been deporting 400K or so per year from all over the world. I think the issue is when the worst offenders aren't sent back and allowed to stay in this country, even after committing crimes. Some cities will not allow their police to even call I.C.E. when illegals are caught committing crimes. So instead of being deported they just blend back into society with no legal footprint or way to find them.
November 11, 20169 yr Are you implying that even when every single time we discuss this here the focus is ONLY on Mexicans and Muslims, one couldn't form the opinion that these are the only demographics that people are concerned with? A good portion of the immigrants coming across the southern border are from other countries in Central or South America, but they always seem to get lumped together as Mexicans...even though many are not.
November 11, 20169 yr Are you implying that even when every single time we discuss this here the focus is ONLY on Mexicans and Muslims, one couldn't form the opinion that these are the only demographics that people are concerned with? Again, I don't care where they are from. If you are here illegally, you have broken the law. Granted, Hispanics make up the largest population of illegal immigrants in this country. One could assume, if they wanted, that everyone is speaking of them. It still doesn't make them a racist or a bigot.

So, just because they broke a different law, they should not have to be punished in any way? Sorry, I just can't go for that. When our own citizens are punished for many lesser crimes, to suggest someone here illegally have more rights than our own citizens is troubling to me.
November 11, 20169 yr So one must specify when they say illegal immigrants? And to expand on this line of thinking... When someone says "Trump supporters are racist," does that person have to specify they don't mean ALL? Or are you just assuming they mean all when they say that?
November 11, 20169 yr And to expand on this line of thinking... When someone says "Trump supporters are racist," does that person have to specify they don't mean ALL? Or are you just assuming they mean all when they say that? Liberals mean ALL TRUMP SUPPORTERS.
November 11, 20169 yr Liberals mean ALL TRUMP SUPPORTERS. Nope. There's no way you know that. Ask @capt278.
November 11, 20169 yr And to expand on this line of thinking... When someone says "Trump supporters are racist," does that person have to specify they don't mean ALL? Or are you just assuming they mean all when they say that? From everything I've seen and heard, they mean all. Most can't figure out there are reasons people voted for Trump other than the fact they are racists or bigots. Heck, ask the protesters.
November 11, 20169 yr From everything I've seen and heard, they mean all. Most can't figure out there are reasons people voted for Trump other than the fact they are racists or bigots. Heck, ask the protesters. You realize this is exactly what I just told you in regards to Mexicans and Muslims, right? :lol2:

When our own citizens are punished for many lesser crimes, to suggest someone here illegally have more rights than our own citizens is troubling to me. Not saying they have or are entitled to more rights than anyone else. I don't claim to know or have the answer. I do believe the fact that so many are hellbent on punishing these people and getting a pound of flesh, that it pushes these people further into the shadows. Again, I don't get the venom that people have for these folks. I still say the beginning of any solution starts with the businesses that take advantage of these people and provide them with jobs. Let's start there and let's have just as much anger and feel just as much need to punish our own citizens who are just as involved in the problem. Tie that in with immediately (or at least as quickly as possible) deporting any folks here illegally that have committed a crime, while tightening our borders and let's see where that takes us. We can then deal with the good guys that are already here later.
November 11, 20169 yr You realize this is exactly what I just told you in regards to Mexicans and Muslims, right? :lol2: No sir. I have actually heard people say ALL Trump supporters are racists.
November 11, 20169 yr No sir. I have actually heard people say ALL Trump supporters are racists. The position you just took is exactly the same one I took with the immigrants. I have watched people here repeatedly reference Mexicans and muslims and no other groups. So I too have heard/seen people only reference those two groups.
