Illegal Immigrants

Featured Replies

There needs to be some retribution/penalty for crossing illegally. A fine and a background check are hardly cruel and unusual punishment.

No it's cruel, or unusual. But it's punitive enough that it keeps people in the shadows, with very little benefit to us. I agree that a background check probably should be part of the path. But again, if you're already here, already contributing and otherwise following the law, what purpose does a fine serve?? We want these folks out of the shadows....the fear of arrest, jail time, and fines aren't keeping the bad guys out, and it's only keeping the good guys underground.

There are costs involved with running background checks, issuing visas and the bureaucracy involved in implementing and running a program like this. Why should taxpayers be on the hook for these costs for someone who is here illegally?

There are also costs in issuing and collecting fines. Either way, taxpayers are on the hook. What's more beneficial....issuing and collecting a fine that will discourage people from entering into society, or spending money on a background check that gets them legal and into the tax system??

Are we deporting white illegal immigrants too, or just Mexicans and Muslims?

All non-productive ones, no mater nationality or ethnicity..

Easy to say that now after the question has been posed. (This is not directed personally at you.)

We never heard about white illegal immigrants from Trump (or his followers), only Mexicans and Muslims.

This is hitting close to home for me and here is why.

One of my favorite students father is her legally and owns/runs multiple restaurants. Her mother is not.

No way would I be for sending her mother anywhere for any reason.

You are correct.

Do you think is because of blatant racism or because Mexico is where a lot come from and we are at war with ISIS.

It is my belief that racism plays as big a part as anything else.

So we make the fine high enough to cover all costs, including collection. Again, lack of anything punitive will just encourage others to follow the illegal path rather than going through proper channels. Why would those in line stay in line if they can cross illegally, get an immediate job, fess up and be allowed to stay with no ramifications?

Is it racist to be tired of paying health care for people here illegally while I do pay.

Is it racist to be tired of illegals sneaking accross the border to have a kid so they can get the free benefits of the NOW Legal citizen.

Racism is such an easy word to throw around now days. Oh its racist, oh its racist, thats racist, enough is enough.

Race has nothing to do with how I feel about it.

I hope they put all the white bums to work or something.

This is the first time you've ever made such a claim. Which is part of my point.

It's not racist to be tired of paying for illegal immigrant's health care. It's not racist to be tired of people sneaking into the country from Mexico.

It IS racist to CONSTANTLY bring up those situations and NEVER address white illegal immigrants that have done the same from other countries.

So let's make it a big, fat hairy fine, that makes it even less likely someone will come forward. Again, I hear what your saying, but I just don't think being highly punitive helps solve the problem. Especially when you're being punitive to otherwise good, hard working people, which many are (though not all). Now I have no issues with being highly punitive towards employers providing these opportunities...again, that's the group that is being ignored, and responsible for creating a big part of the problem. If the illegal jobs dry up, simply staying here becomes much tougher for those here illegally.

I concur, but who are the white illegal immigrants? Ireland, England, Germany, France?

Im against all illegal immigrants from everywhere. Screw the skin color, if illegal then get them out till we can figure out how to get legal status.

I don't know exactly where they are coming from, but do you think there aren't white immigrants as well?

About 60% of illegal immigrants come from Mexico, about 14% more from other South American countries.

Next biggest group - Asia with about 10%.
