Illegal Immigrants

Featured Replies

For full transparency, I'm 100% in favor of immigration reform. Something needs to be to slow it down, control it, get rid of the bad ones, and allow the good ones to become citizens.

But my point is this... You're either going to be in favor of cracking down on ALL immigrants, or you're a racist. There's no in between.

ALL immigrants - right?

And the answer to that would be yes.

I really do not like the focus (real or apparent) on 'Mexico'.

- Overstayed visa - from any country - are a problem.

- Potential terrorism can come from any country and is a problem.

Should those coming from Muslim radicalized countries get more scrutiny - sure. And temporary moratoriums and in depth reviews are not new. Its a reasonable step.

100% agreed

I don't think any person who comes to this country illegally should EVER be allowed to vote, even if he/she somehow gets a "path" to citizenship. It has always been my contention that the ONLY reason Dems are ok with illegals is that they see them as a future huge voting group. The ONLY reason R's don't do anything about it is that they see illegals as cheap labor for their big business donors and lobbyists. Punish businesses that hire illegals and NEVER EVER allow an illegal to vote.

Also, I don't blame illegals for coming into the US. It is easy for us to say they shouldn't but if I was in the same situation as many of them, I may very well try to sneak in to help my family. That does NOT mean that we as a country should allow them to however.

So let's make it a big, fat hairy fine, that makes it even less likely someone will come forward. Again, I hear what your saying, but I just don't think being highly punitive helps solve the problem. Especially when you're being punitive to otherwise good, hard working people, which many are (though not all). Now I have no issues with being highly punitive towards employers providing these opportunities...again, that's the group that is being ignored, and responsible for creating a big part of the problem. If the illegal jobs dry up, simply staying here becomes much tougher for those here illegally.

I hear everything you are saying and understand. I'm a contributing member of society, if I break a law such as parking illegally or something minor do you think they will cut me some slack and not punitively punish me or you? If there is no punishment then you are just encouraging the lawlessness.
