Should Clinton be Pardoned?

Featured Replies

Should President Obama Pardon Hillary Clinton before leaving office?

I for one think he should.

1. By pardoning Clinton, it puts an end to the investigations that will come about.

2. It puts an end to the Clinton Political Dynasty once and for all.

3. Leaves Obama as the Senior Democratic Statesman, replacing Bill.

4. Lets the country move on past discussing Email and Servers every single day.

If she isn't pardoned

1. There will be a special prosecutor appointed and untold time and $$$ will be spent and this will drag out 4-EVER.

2. Who know what else this could turn up, including alleged dirt on President Obama.

3. With her health, it could literally kill her.

4. Republicans will secretly support it, as an ongoing investigation would hijack any agenda they may have.

5. It also could help the Democrats curry sympathy going into midterms in 2 years.

So Pardon Her or Not?

Here is the legal precedent for Pardoning her without her being charged yet.....

The leading Supreme Court case is Ex parte Garland (1867). Justice Stephen J. Field, writing for the Court in a 5-4 decision, held that the President's pardoning power is ''unlimited,'' and ''It extends to every offense known to the law, and may be exercised at any time after its commission, either before legal proceedings are taken, or during their pendency, or after conviction and judgment.''

In Murphy v. Ford (1975), a Federal District Court in Michigan rejected a suit for a declaratory judgment that President Ford's unconditional pardon of Richard M. Nixon was unconstitutional. The court found that the President had the constitutional power to grant a pre-indictment pardon, citing Ex parte Garland in its support.

No she shouldn't. If she is guilty then she needs to pay the price.

I say no for a couple of reasons.

If she did something that is illegal and it's proven then she should pay the price like every other schmo occupying a prison cell.

Equally, I want Mr Trump to live up to his 3rd-world mentality of threatening your political opponent. My guess is he will not.

If he does, is it basically the same as admitting that she did something illegal? And if you make that argument, would there be those that say he, as President knew about it? And from there, it's just a quick step to not only did he know about it, but was perhaps complicit in covering it up? Not a way to end a legacy that you want to be remembered.

I would be fully in favor of pardoning Hillary and her gang but only after they make a full confession of the crimes that they have committed, with the stipulation that if they make any demonstrably false claims that the pardons are nullified. I don't know if a pardon can be structured in such a way, but the very least that Hillary and her accomplices deserve is public humiliation.

Of course, Obama would not place any restrictions on a pardon and I expect that he would sign it while proclaiming Hillary's innocence and claiming that he was only issuing a pardon to save a good woman from being further persecuted by Republicans. I am opposed to any pardon that does not acknowledge that crimes were committed.

Like the end of National Treasure - somebody's got to go to prison. For the national security exposures at least.

It will not be HRC.

The Weiners?

Nope. Trump needs to put his money where his mouth is. Charge her, indict her, and put her in a jail cell like he said he's going to do.

Don't chicken out now.

If she isn't pardoned, I think she will be prosecuted...but will never spend a minute behind bars. She will be convicted also, based what has been released so far.

Pardon her for what crime?

I imagine since she's no longer running for president Republicans will lose interest in their witch hunt, but I've been wrong before.

I hope Chris Christie is the AG who leads the prosecution.

A lot of posters ha e said she needs to go to jail.

What will you think when Mr Trump doesn't try to "lock her up?"

Pardon her, because I'm tired of hearing about it. I have so many things that I hope Trump finds it in his heart to get accomplished that I simply don't want to continue to hear about these emails anymore. This is the deflategate of the political sphere.

The Obama's really don't like the Clintons, right? So why would he pardon her unless there is some dirt on him.
