Is it more pressure or is it higher expectations?

Exactly. Appreciate the tradition and past success, not expect it as a birth right to gauge each class by. You guys are foolish to put that undue pressure on the kids making them feel they cant live up to those expectations.

Funny! You say in one sentence that they have no more pressure than any other kid and then in the next say maybe "the pressure" comes from people like you. Meaning me. I didn't say where it comes from or why it's there. I didn't say I agreed with why some of the pressure is there. All I said is it's there in a bigger way and you just admitted it by blaming me. All I'm doing is telling you the truth. Doesn't have anything to do with who plays harder, who is more disappointed. Who works harder. It has to do with the weight on the shoulders that is applied. I didn't say whether the weight is right or wrong. But anyone that is debating this with me has already agreed the weight is there. Whether you agree with "why" the weight is there is an entirely different debate.

Let me ask all of you this. Is there more pressure to play bball at KY, Duke, Kansas or NC than to coach or play at NKU, Morehead, Harvard or Bowling Green? Well I'm sure I know what your answer is. So tell me, why is that?

I was giving you an example of how easy it is to look somewhere else where pressure could easily be more than any HHS player could ever have this year.

Let me ask you this. How could a HHS player have more pressure than any other NKY player had this year? Serious question. What pressure? It wasn't like they won the last several Tate Titles and felt they had to keep the streak on. They actually only have 1 title in the last 4 years including this season. Why would that mean they have more pressure? That's my point. Just because you say so doesn't make it so.

The answer to your question about Basketball is the same for every player period. The pressure at those schools you mentioned "UK Duke etc" isn't on the players. The pressure you speak about is in their AD's and coaches. The players can just play. No player is going to play harder if he goes to UK than if he played at NKU.

It took 8 pages of nonsense to get to a very valid point. This staff took a hit when Jason Lynch left HHS to go coach in Ohio. Second best coach on staff IMO. Then a former head coach in NKY offers to "volunteer" and he is IGNORED. Rather have a guy get paid that spent 4 years in the program and maybe saw the field for a handful of plays.

There needs to be some soul searching by BW and changes need to be made. The definition of doing the same thing over and over and over and over is STUPIDITY.

Are we sure that BW has the authority/power to make those changes?

Softball!

Well they have the talent...now if they could just find a coach. :)

Just like all you Highlands haters. Blame the coaching!!! Lol!

I would think as the head coach he can make the coaching assignments. I am not aware of one coach at HHS that does not have a say in who their assistants are.

I think I'm going to have to do my best Boutros Boutros-Ghali impersonation, and broker a peace deal between some of you folks. :lol2:

I don't think a reasonable coach would accept a job where he has no control who is on his staff.

When you said HHS players have more pressure on them than any other NKY player

Now your adding that no other programs have pressure to win like HHS does. Keep digging the hole deeper.

I will I'll give you just one of many examples of a team and it's players that I feel had more pressure on them to win this year than HHS players and that is Cov Cath players to get that monkey off their backs and finally beat HHS.

That's one game a year and there is just as much pressure on HHS to not let them get the monkey off their back. I havent dug any hole deeper. I've stayed exactly consistent with what I said and have asked you multiple questions, none of which have been answered. You just change to a different argument.

Yes, there is more pressure on HHS kids to win than many other teams in the state.

Is there more pressure on the coaching staff at Trinity to win than at Senaca? Or if what I believe you to say, it's exactly the same. What about Beechwood and Ludlow. Same pressure? What about Mayfield and Bellevue? Same pressure? What about BG and Collins? Same pressure? St X and Butler? Same pressure? Want me to keep going?

Is it more pressure or is it higher expectations?

Well part of the pressure is driven from higher expectations. The high expectations absolutely put pressure on the kids every year and every game...especially in a season where a particular team struggles. It increases even more!

I was giving you an example of how easy it is to look somewhere else where pressure could easily be more than any HHS player could ever have this year.

AGAIN, I have not said one word about anyone playing harder. You just can't separate the two.

So you think when KY plays and Morehead plays. When both teams take the court, there is the same level of pressure on KY as the is on Morehead? Really?? And yes, I'm talking about the players. Every person in the country is watching to see what Ky or Duke does in every game they play. Every game they play has a bearing on the national championship and their seed in the tournament or if they even make the tournament. And you expect me to believe the same pressure applies to the Morehead team when they play EKU??? C'mon. You can't really believe that.

Next, I don't care how many state championships they have one in the last 4 years. We are talking about generations of families, Not the last four years. How many have they won in the last 10? Last 20? Anyone can take a small cross section and make an argument. But that's not where the pressure comes from. It comes for generations of success and some of you guys just don't get that.

But even if we look at what you're saying and take your little keyhole in time. Winning only one state championship in the last 4 years in a program that hasn't gone more than like 3 consecutive years over the last 30...wouldn't that actually be applying more pressure to these particular kids?? Not only do you have the high expectations, but the clock is also ticking.

For some reason you want to turn my "pressure statement" into something confrontational and arrogant and then try to defend your attack. It wasn't intended to be either. It is a fact right now and you are more than welcome to disagree. But you still haven't told me why you take the stance you do. You just keep saying I'm wrong.

Are we sure that BW has the authority/power to make those changes?

Just a quick point of information. JOAT didn't suggest but didn't want anyone else to assume that Lynch left to go to Ohio because of the coaching situation. As I understand it, Lynch needed a few more years in the Ohio system to be able to retire with a much better benefit under that system than anything he could have achieved continuing to work in KY. I suspect that was a STRONG motivator in his moving his employment back across the river where he continued to live even when he was working at HHS.

That was one reason as was the fact that his daughter was in that school system. I will say though that the opportunity was there to replace Mr. Lynch with someone of his caliber and the overture was totally ignored.

Have no idea whom you might be suggesting offered their services. But, assuming the credentials as you represented, it sounds like someone was either professionally threatened, didn't think the chemistry was a good mix, or the volunteer had some baggage that was felt better to avoid. Can't conceive another option that makes any sense.
