Another exciting season of boys middle school basketball is upon us. I believe most teams are picked by now. What are some of the matchups at next week's Erlanger Classic @ Lloyd?

 

I know Conner plays Ockerman and IHM on Thursday and then head down to Williamstown on Saturday for some more scrimmages.

I know it should be a great Season, I have heard the Woodland Boys teams are strong this year and the 6th Grade team is loaded...Should be a very nice opening week of games at the Erlanger Classic.

Who do you have as best 6th/7th/8th teams and players? Did Highlands 8th win it last year as 7th graders?

 

Tough to keep up ... only so many games a person can get to ...

6th grade- CC, St.Pius & Woodland-Beechwood should have nice team, this group has been playing together for two years so they have already been tested-

7th grade- Camp Ernst & Highlands

8th grade- i don't have a lot of exposure here..

Woodland beat Highlands for the 7th grade championship..

I was told Beechwood 8th plays Holmes and Highlands next Saturday..

Well...I'll speak to the 8th grade (large school) group as I have watched them now going on 3 yrs:

 

Top Teams (In no particular order)

IHM

Conner

Highlands (Heard rumors that a couple kids moved up to freshman ball?)

Woodland (Again, heard that Neace transferred to Twenhofel, if so big lost for Woodland)

 

Sleeper Teams:

Campbell County

Camp Ernst

 

Top Players:

Vieth = IHM

Bessler = IHM

Conner = Osterburg

Campbell = Beting

Ockerman = Fields

Holmes = Can't remember his name but we all know him. He should probably move up to freshman as he is a one man show.

Rabe = Gray. Transferred from Turkeyfoot to Conner, now hearing he is at Gray. I'm really not sure where Rabe is but when he is on, the kid is a player, definitely not afraid to let it go.

 

I apoligize, but I can never remember the kids from Highlands names, but their trio is fun to watch. If all 3 are still playing 8th grade they will be in the mix.

 

I think the KMSAA should give Beechwood the big school ticket this year for 8th grade. Throw them in and there is a lot of talent in this class.

 

6th Grade...I have a little insight into Conner, they will be good. Landen Hamilton remember the name. Ice runs through his veins, might be a secret MMA fighter...I'm not sure. They have a core group that has been playing together for a while and they have won a lot (and I don't mean at SOAS).

 

Campbell County will have a 6th grader too that is a baller. He played with the group for Conner from my understanding and is a very smart player.

 

Again...looking forward to this year. We should all enjoy it if we have boys in 8th grade, cause next year most of the games will be at 4:30 for freshman!

Only the tournament.

Beechwood was stuck in the small school division again. So it really doesn't matter..

At Woodland 8th... I believe Neace did transfer to Twenhofel and Also Profitt and Brown moved up to Freshman...

A few names I know .... Hergott, Rom, Vinson at Highands, Ginn at Conner. Murphy, St Pius (may be playing frosh). Are Bessler and Vieth going to wind up at St. Henry? Who will be heading to CCH next year? Last few years the classes at CCH have been crazy loaded.

I have heard that Buten, Vinson and Hergott are playing frosh for Highlands. Veith is a very good football player so it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up at CovCath..
