I know Beechwood 8th is good - is Draud playing 8th this year, and did he play in this tournament? - but that class at Highlands was, 2 years ago, the best class to come through in a long time. Anyone know the makeup of the Highlands 8th team? Heard a few of them may be playing up. Hergott, Vinson, Buten, Rom play in this? And are they allowing Barth to play up? Either way, great win for Beechwood, and no disrespect intended to either school, I just wanted to get a feel for the makeup of the teams.

 

Draud is not playing any 8th grade this year at all. Hergott, Vinson, and Buten are playing frosh and did not play in the tournament. Rom and Mueller are playing 8th and as far as I know Zach Barth isn't playing up. In my opinion Highlands 8th might struggle some this year with those kids playing up. Rom and Mueller are very good players and will be looked upon to help carry that team imo..

Thanks. Those teams look a lot different than they could. Seems to be a break with recent history at Highlands, having middle schoolers playing up.

In 6th grade Highlands, Woodland & Beechwood showed they will be tough outs for anyone and each should give CC a good game!

 

Conner and St.Pius have some nice pieces as well, St.Pius will be much improved come January!

 

The 6th grade kid from Newport that easily stood over 6' tall could be a force some day if he keeps playing. He really runs the floor well for his size and with some work can be really good.

 

In 7th grade, I thought both Highlands and Woodland stood out above the others.. The scores of the games really didn't reflect the talent these two teams have- both again will be tough outs at end of year-

Greg Batche great guy and knows a lot about basketball; expect that group to do very well!

I heard that as well. Glad he is giving back. A poor man rebounder. King of effort, the boys will do well with him.

A few names I know .... Hergott, Rom, Vinson at Highands, Ginn at Conner. Murphy, St Pius (may be playing frosh). Are Bessler and Vieth going to wind up at St. Henry? Who will be heading to CCH next year? Last few years the classes at CCH have been crazy loaded.
