Thoughts on Rex Chapman taking over for Oscar Combs during the UK Basketball pre-game shows?

I feel like he could potentially do a great job with it. Oscar is basically impossible to replace, but I feel like Rex could make it his own.

 

Somewhat of a redemption story for Rex after going through some personal battles the last couple of years.

 

He's currently on KSR, which made me think to create a thread.

He comes across as the type who won't necessarily be a company man, which seems like a good thing to me. It's irrelevant to me either way because I've maybe listened to the pre-game show twice in the last three years.

I'm glad for him but , like you, I can probably count on one hand (and one leg) how many times I've listened to the pre-game show.

I like Rex a lot. I'm glad to see he is doing better in life.

When I think of him now I think of a pill head that stole stuff from an Apple Store.

 

And how he tried to make a story of Cal going to Lakers.

 

I also think of him as a great basketball player in all 3 levels.

 

I hope he does a great job.

Only time I really listen is when they have a 7:00pm game and I'm heading home from the gym.

I think it's kind of odd he won't be on site for every game.

Article I saw said he admitted having a pill problem for 17 years. He said he apologized to Cal for the "to the Lakers" comment and Cal acted like he didn't know what he was talking about. Said he and Cal get along fine. Blamed a lot of his past on having whatever he wanted most of his life and acting like a teenager until his problems caught up with him a few years ago. I suppose it was an an awakening for him.

I wish him well and hope he does a good job in his new position.
