Trinity did not have anything to do with the paperwork. The sophomore got his right. The junior did not. The KHSAA allowed the young man to twist in the wind while they reviewed his resubmitted transfer documents.

 

Now, we will all see how the fastest kid on this Trinity squad pans out. I believe the staff will figure out how to maximize his contributions to this campaign.

Can tell you what I know about a different event, but similar circumstance.

 

A kid was transferring and the school that the kid was transferring from did not fill out the paperwork correctly. Now keep in mind that it takes time for any paperwork (filled out correctly or not) to get it's turn on the desk. When the incorrect paperwork hit the desk of the KHSAA, they rule ineligible (because they don't have the correct or all the information to make a decision). Now the kid is ineligible which requires an appeal. That process takes time because they have to get the paperwork corrected and schedule an appeal hearing. That takes time. Then once that is complete and depending on the recommendation from the mediator, there is a time frame (I think two weeks) that anyone (official) can contest the outcome of the appeal recommendation. Then once that time frame is up...if the kid is recommended for reinstatement of eligibility, then the KHSAA makes final approvals based on all the information they have. That typically takes some time as well. They aren't just dealing with one kid and one sport. So the final approval is "get in line" and when you're turn comes, we'll make the decision.

 

I'm sure this isn't exactly right and I know there are a couple other mandatory wait times, but this is pretty close and gives you at least a sense of why it takes so long.
