October 22, 20169 yr Marvin is a good guy. The issues with this team are that they were missing two of their 3 better players to start the season. What has been the issues the last 14 years? 0 playoff wins is not acceptable. He has been able to beat bad teams and still loses to playoff caliber teams in a regular basis. Marvin may be a good guy but that doesn't make him a great coach. He needed to be fired after the 2008 season. He is bad.
October 22, 20169 yr No way they fire him, Marvin will leave when Marvin wants to. Unless there is some unusual circumstance. Nor should they. And that is why the Bengals will always be the Bungles
October 22, 20169 yr I could see it happening. It's not typical anymore for coaches to be around for long tenures like this, and it's especially not typical with a lack of postseason success. It's not that Marvin hasn't done a good job - in many ways he's done a fine job. But they appear to have hit a ceiling under his tenure, and eventually in the NFL, they usually decide to see what a change will do. I could see them transitioning Marvin into some other role in the front office rather than just outright dismissing him - but then maybe he'd turn that down. The Bengals may not get better without him, but if their goal is to win a Super Bowl, it might be time to kick the tires on someone else.
October 23, 20169 yr Put me in the no chance category. Mike Brown is loyal to a fault. And while being loyal is an admirable quality, there's a question to be begged as to how much of that loyalty is tied to the fact that Marvin has agreed to never cast shade upon the wretchedness of the Mike Brown administration.
October 23, 20169 yr As long as Mike Brown's bottom line remains black, its been another wonderfully successful season!!!

Marvin may be a good guy but that doesn't make him a great coach. He needed to be fired after the 2008 season. He is bad. Agreed. Couple this with the fact that the Bengals are now perceived as a team festooned with "dirty players" over which the coach has no control; and you have a bad combination. That being said, I think Marvin leaves when Marvin wants to leave.
October 23, 20169 yr No, if he was going to be, it would have happened before now. It would take a winless season, 1-15, 2-14, etc to happen and I'm not sure if it still would if the worst scenario took place. Mike Brown's satisfaction with mediocrity is notorious.
October 23, 20169 yr And my reason for being against him has been far more to do with control of the team than anything.
