COach Herm Edwards says nothing good happens after midnight. This is so very sad but unfortunately this is the society we live in in 2016. SAD! SAD! Day.

I stayed at the hotel immediately behind the Cook Out Restaurant a little over a year ago. We were immediately told that it was a bad hangout and there had been multiple shootings there. That was September 2015.

 

Sad story & senseless violence.

 

That hotel is where we stay every state tournament. We will be more cautious.

BREAKING: Lexington Police have arrested Dvonta Middlebrooks, 21, in connection to the shooting death of 15-year-old Trinity Gay. Middlebrooks is charged with Wanton Endangerment and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Police say Middlebrooks was in the Cookout parking lot and fired multiple shots at the time of the incident.

 

Probably not the shooter, but hopefully will lead to the shooter.

So what's the cut off before it's considered morning vs late at night? I frequently go to breakfast before I go to work at 4:30/5 in the morning. I sure don't want to get shot since I shouldn't be getting breakfast that early.

I never said she was asking for it. I questioned why a 15 year old little girl was out at 4am. Its 2016, not 1949. The world is more dangerous.

But yeah you being out that early or late does raise your risk of something happening.

This is the first thing I thought when I heard this story. My son is 16 and the only way he would be out at that time of the morning is if he is with me and I guarantee we wouldn't be hanging out in the parking lot of a restaurant. This is definitely a sad situation and a reminder to me to make sure I know exactly what is going on with my teenage son at all times.

I see a lot of misconceptions and possible misinformation in this thread. I lived in Lexington for part of my life. I know exactly where Cook Out is and I know exactly what kind of "hang out" it is in the same vein as White Castle has been.

 

At 4am on a late Saturday/Sunday morning the people at Cook Out are the crowd leaving the club that just closed at 3am. Cook Out, Waffle House, Indi's, White Castle....all these places are packed with folks, grown folks of all types of character looking for that last bit of entertainment before heading to the house. There are reports that she was at Cook Out around 2am sending out tweets about folks shooting at Cook Out. Again, this is a senseless tragedy but as long as we ignore the why it happened to a 15 year old girl then it will happen to another 15 year old who has no relation to Tyson Gay and his/her story won't get this much attention.

 

Lexington is way more dangerous now than it ever has been. I worry for my soon to be 21 year old daughter and her child in Lexington let alone a teenager in the streets of Lexington at anytime of the day let alone 4am.

 

Cook Out is close to the campus and close to Rupp Arena but I wouldn't call that a nice area by any stretch of the imagination.

I know times have changed but I never would have thought questioning why a teenager would be out in the a.m. in a shady part of town or establishment would be such a crazy ideal.
