GrantNKY Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Nelson, Vander Meer, Wilt, Dimaggio, Celtics, Cy Young, Cal Ripken Jr., Nolan Ryan SO's. None of these will be broken.
MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Which of these unbreakable records are the most likely to be broken someday? Byron Nelson – 11 PGA tour wins in a row -- NEVER Johnny Vander Meer – Two consecutive no-hitters -- NEVER John Stockton – NBA career assists and steals -- POSSIBLE but doubtful. Richard Petty – 200 NASCAR wins -NEVER Darryl Sittler – 10 Points in one NHL Game -- POSSIBLE but doubtful Wilt Chamberlain – 100 Points in one Game -- NEVER Rickey Henderson – 1,406 Stolen Bases -- NEVER Pete Rose – 4,256 Career Hits -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful Joe Dimaggio – 56-Game Hitting Streak -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful Wayne Gretzky – 215 Points in a Season -- POSSIBLE Boston Celtics – 8 Consecutive NBA Titles -- NEVER Wayne Gretzky – 2,857 Career Points -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful Cy Young – 749 Complete Games -- NEVER Cal Ripken Jr. – 2,632 Consecutive Games Played -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful Nolan Ryan – 5,714 Strike Outs -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful Nolan Ryan – 7 No-Hitters -- POSSIBLE but highly doubtful See above.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Byron Nelson – 11 PGA tour wins in a row Never Johnny Vander Meer – Two consecutive no-hitters May be tied but, not broken John Stockton – NBA career assists and steals So far ahead, it is inconceivable right now Richard Petty – 200 NASCAR wins Never Darryl Sittler – 10 Points in one NHL Game It "Could" happen Wilt Chamberlain – 100 Points in one Game It "Could" happen Rickey Henderson – 1,406 Stolen Bases Very doubtful Pete Rose – 4,256 Career Hits No one will play long enough Joe Dimaggio – 56-Game Hitting Streak It "Could" happen Wayne Gretzky – 215 Points in a Season Nope Boston Celtics – 8 Consecutive NBA Titles Very Doubtful Wayne Gretzky – 2,857 Career Points  Cy Young – 749 Complete Games Absolutley ZERO Chance Cal Ripken Jr. – 2,632 Consecutive Games Played It "Could" happen Nolan Ryan – 5,714 Strike Outs Nearly no chance this record is ever even approached, let alone broken Nolan Ryan – 7 No-Hitters Possible but Doubtful
UKMustangFan Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Cy Young's complete games and Celtics 8 straight titles are the most unlikely
UKMustangFan Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I'll say the most likely to happen at some point are the career no-hitters and Stockton's assist and steals records.
Wireman Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I think the no-hitters records are the most likely.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 I think Wilt's 100 point game could get broken...look Kobe got 82 hitting only 4 shots from the field in two quarters. I could see Steph being really hot one night and the team just start feeding him to see if he could break 100. Maybe LeBron comes out on a slow night in February against a really bad team and decides to just go for it like Kobe did. With scoring and shooting on an uptick in the NBA I really think someone could do it and I think someone will hit 90 within the next few seasons.
Bengal Maniac Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Cy Young winner record by far is the least likely to be broken. Byron Nelson's 11 straight PGA victories would be next
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 I'll say the most likely to happen at some point are the career no-hitters and Stockton's assist and steals records. Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Cy Young winner record by far is the least likely to be broken. Byron Nelson's 11 straight PGA victories would be next I agree with Ryan's Strike Outs being next, IMO.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Closest active pitcher to Ryan's Strike Out total is CC Sebathia, in 15 seasons he has 2726 K's. If he kept up that pace for 15 more years for a 30 year career, he would still be nearly 300K's short of what Ryan did in barely 27 seasons.

Red are ones I don't see any chance being broken. Others I'm not sure either way.
Jumper_Dad Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 I'm shocked that no one has made a better run at DiMagio's hit streak record...Ichiro and Jeter both had seasons where they had hits in at least 135 games. You have to figure they were a hit or two away from stringing together a long streak.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Stockton's steals record was teh first thing that jumped off the screen to me.
