Since the Kelly brothers were brought up in the NewCath/Conner game thread, and since I'm a "numbers junkie", I figured I'd throw some career numbers of the brothers. With that said, quite a few folks that I've talked with have said So. RB Kyle Kelly could be the best of them all, and so far this season he has not disappointed with his hard-nosed running attack. The young man is fast and doesn't go down easy. No matter where he ends up, this is quite a talented group of siblings.

 

Shawn ('03) WR - 64 catches for 970 yds, 12 TD's. Played at Union College were he has the 2nd most catches in school history (136).

 

Ben ('05) RB - 2249 rushing yds, 3809 total yds, 36 rushing TD's. Played RB at Union College.

 

Mark ('09) RB - 3373 rushing yds, 5546 total yds, 49 rushing TD's. Avg'ed 27.4 per punt return.

 

Chris ('11) RB/LB - 4232 rushing yds, 5128 total yds, 65 rushing TD's. 345 career tackles. Just finished a stellar career playing LB at EKU.

That's a crazy pipeline of boys from one family for any school.

Chris is a fine young man. My son played the last 4 seasons at EKU with him. Great football player.

I think know Kyle seems like the best pure athlete. Great family all the way around

May be tough to beat Chris Kelly's numbers but this kid sounds like he will be a dandy as the runt.

Thanks for starting the thread, like I stated in the Conner/NCC thread, I love a great legacy. I know games played must be taken into consideration but each RB seems to post bigger numbers than the last. I'd say if Kyle has good health he will be the top rusher numbers wise on the tree.

Not wishing time away here, or trying to distract from the thread, but Colton Smith isn't too too far away from NewCath. That will be the 5th Smith brother. Those two families have contributed so much to NewCath's football legacy that it can't be overstated.

I'm also a big Chris Kelly fan. He was fantastic, as was Mark, in HS. Chris was a great leader on those EKU teams. Started as a walk on and earned his scholly with his heart and passion. Never the biggest guy in the fight but he never knew that.

Yes, that's the highest career average. He also holds the single season record, 11 returns 29.8 avg. in 2008.

 

He was tops among his brothers in kickoff returns, 26 returns averaging 22.1 yards.
