Wasn't garbage, was the truth. I didnt even know about highlands till I moved to Ky after living and playing in Florida. Just pointing out that your inflated view of yourselves isn't all that.

 

I really wasn't aware that when a Highlands fan talks about the 2nd most all-time wins in the country, most wins in the state of KY and 23 state titles means we have an inflated view of ourselves. I always thought it meant we have a good community that has a good school and a good football program that we can be proud to talk about.

When ever it was asked if Dale actually made any calls to all these NKY teams they had no proof to back up their claims. Not only did Highlands play in one of the easiest classes the last 9 years before deciding to move up to 5A, they used that horrible class as proof that they were great and everyone was afraid to play them. Then something magical happened. Following another State Title in the worst class in the state, Highlands moves up to 5A where they were sure they would dominate. What else happened? All these NKY teams they claimed were hiding from Highlands went ahead and scheduled them.

 

How did that go? Well they started that first year in 5A by getting whipped by Cooper (who apparently according to some moved to 6A just so they could avoid playing HHS, that was another myth that a few HHS fans believed also, yet Cooper didn't hide from HHS and when they faced the defending state title winners what happened? Cooper dominated them, they beat them down to where people started to wonder if it was a fluke. It wasn't a fluke because what followed after that week was Highlands pretty much getting their butts handed to them by just about every 6A NKY team they faced. After touting for years how much NKY teams were afraid to play Highlands (with absolutely no proof to back up their claims) Those same NKY teams were beating the mighty BlueBirds, and beating them rather easily.

Anyone who had half a brain watching that game knew that is exactly what was happening as it happened. I know because you all never have beaten Cooper before in your entire history you didn't want to believe that the heat had anything to do with the outcome, but I hate to disappoint you but that is exactly what caused their downfall that game. They wouldn't have been up as much as they were up if it wasn't.

What's cute is that one of the biggest dudes on the team, a senior, wouldn't step up to play the line because he still thinks he's a quarterback.

 

Coaching problem? The coach can force a kid to play the line?

Kid thinks he's a QB still but won't see the field at that position, likely, ever again. You can't make him be a team player.

 

Brand new field house and weight room does nothing but make kids feel like they already earned something that they havent. Every player on that team needs to be COACHED and have the determination of the players that played in the old dirty beat up locker room and weight room. These kids are living on their high horse with these facilities but these facilities do not guarantee wins.

 

 

 

If 3 OL from an already small and not very deep group were out for this game and a starting RB played C, HHS was not going to win this game.

 

If #2 as a SR would rather play backup QB and get 0 meaningful snaps that shows selfishness and poor leadership skills on his part.

 

As mentioned above, it shows a coaching failure as well. While you cannot force a kid to play a position, your job is to create a program and environment where players want to do what is best for the team and others on the team influence their teammates to do the same.

 

Case in point, I seem to recall his SR year the older Bardo kid moved to TE rather than try to play QB because that was what was best for the team. Showed his character and the character of the program.

Once again HHS was in 5A in 2007, 2008 and 2009 all State Championship winning years.
