I hate I won't be able to make the game. The last trip I made there in 1985 was a great night, albeit against Newport instead of NCC.

 

If the Belfry contingent conducts themselves nearly as well as the NewCath fanbase has done in the past, then the Pirates will be well represented. I have become a fan of the 'Breds program in the past based on my exposure to their fans. Both trips NCC has made to Belfry, as well as numerous other times I have been around them at Pikeville, Louisville or Bowling Green, their fans have been nothing but cordial and pleasant.

 

I hope this game is beneficial to both programs and I hope it is a tough, hard fought game that gives all the fans their money's worth.

For those unfamiliar, what exit on 471 should they take, and then what street progression from there? Looking at the satellite image, I can't tell if Exit 4 or Exit 5 would be best.

This sounds way better to me!! No doubt Belfry is a powerhouse, but I don't see them being leaps and bounds above everyone in the state based off wins over TatesCreek and Harlan. I'm like u it wouldn't shock me to see them get a win over any team in the state but I don't think they are necessarily in a different class than everyone but T.

 

To play Devil's advocate a lot of the optimism about Belfry comes from what they were at the end of last season and what they returned from that team.

 

Belfry was without a doubt a Top 10 overall team in KY last year when it was all said and done with a resume as impressive as anyone's in the State (Defeated three State Runner-Ups and two State Champions by a combined score of 184-32). They returned 9 Starters each way including 3 FBS Recruits, the 3A Finals MVP (who wont be playing tomorrow FWIW), numerous All-State selections, and a host of players who have been starting multiple years. The only team with similar talent returning was Bowling Green... which is why you see such reverence.

 

With that said, I think Belfry would do well to take a lesson from the Houston Cougars. Their Head Coach does not allow them to think about last season as anything but a complete separate entity. They have to refer to last season's team as "That Team" or "Last Year's Team", even the guys who played vital roles. If you gave me a chance to pick three teams sandlot style to represent the State of Kentucky I would probably choose Belfry, Bowling Green, and Trinity... but with that said, and as South Warren can attest, all it takes is one off night for anyone to beat you.

 

Any time I think about how dominant Belfry can be I immediately think of that two game stretch last year where the Pirates lost 49-7 to Cabell Midland and needed a late TD to come from behind and beat Lawrence County 27-23. As well coached as Belfry is, when they put the ball on the ground or shoot themselves in the foot with penalties, it becomes the great equalizer in a hurry.

 

Just like 'Tusi said... we are about to know what Belfry has in a 4 week stretch starting tomorrow. If Belfry can go 4-0 against 4 very good teams including one of the Top 10 overall teams in TN then we can start putting them in elite company.

Take the Newport/Bellevue Rt. 8 Exit (this is the last exit before you cross the bridge into Cincinnati), turn right off the exit and go about 500 ft. to the stop light at Riviera Dr. (The Party Source). Follow Riviera Dr. for about 1/4 mile to the stop sign at 6th Street. Newport High School is right across the street. Turn right on 6th St. and then a quick left into Newport HS.

Should be plenty of parking at the high school. All the parking at Newport is underneath I-471......and if the Bellevue Tigers are at home you can watch their game as well. I-471 separates the two facilities.

I parked near the corner of Linden Ave and 8th St. Was able to take the Bat Cave entrance (stairs to field) and was quite convenient.

I had it in my head that NoKySports was doing the game, but it appears that they are doing Highlands/Ryle instead.
