Who wins and why?

This game has been circled on my schedule, since I got it. Last year Anderson county put a pretty good beat down on Mercer, but a lot has changed since that game. For starters, Mercer was winless under new head coach David Buchanan and had yet to look good at all on offense. Since then the Titans are 7-4 with their new coach and have made big strides toward becoming a real threat to make a deep run into the playoffs. This team only graduated a hand full of players and boasts a pretty solid junior and senior class this season. Aside from just plane playing better football, mercer has added some talent to this years roster that have made them even more versatile on offense, including Gunnar Gillis.

The bearcats and their fans know that name well because he was their starting QB last year as a sophomore. Anderson county has not had the same level of success compared to Mercer going only 3-7 since these two tangled in Lawrenceburg last year. They, like Mercer, are coming off a big win last week and have high expectations for this season!

 

So who comes out on top this year? Will Mercer exact some revenge for last season and take one more step toward becoming a top team in 4a or will Anderson still prove to be just a little too much for these Titans to conquer? What say you?

I was really impressed with Mercer's performance vs Bell County and look for their momentum to carry over against Anderson.

Hearing that there are some hard feelings from a few of the AC boys. Hope this game stays clean!

I think Mercer will just be too much for my Bearcats. There was a nice article in the local paper this week about Anderson's strong...kicking game. It's never a good sign when the bright spot is how many yards your punter is averaging per punt.

 

AC has some play makers but not enough talent and I think this is going to be a long season. Mercer rolls in this one 38-14.

 

I hope the boys from AC keep their cool against Gunner.

Gunnar moving hurt some feelings I guess, probably nothing that isn't expected. I'm sure it's no big deal.

Not that it will make a difference this week but it could going forward but news is that 2018 Mr. Basketball candidate Trevon Faulkner has joined the football team.

I wonder if Trevon Faulkner will get acclimated fast enough to get in this game? He is an extremely gifted athlete and I can remember him shinning on the gridiron as a youngster. I'm sure he is a bit overwhelmed with learning the offense, but he's not just a common athlete!

This is fun seeing all these top notch athletes at Mercer get excited enough about their football team to join in on the fun! Coach Buchanan has sure changed the culture at MCSHS, and should be commended!

No, he can't, hasn't met the required minimum practice requirement yet, that will take a while.

It will be a few weeks at minimum before he can play. He will help a lot once he can though

Was really glad to see Mercer come back and put a impressive win against Bell. I'm really impressed with the overall speed that Mercer has this year. I'm guessing that they will use Faulkner at WR and with his height and speed that will make them even better. I don't see Anderson beating Mercer this year but has we all know that is why we play the game. Coach B. has Mercer playing some good ball now and really enjoy seeing them play.
