FS went back to Breck. They offered Breck about double what their gate would have been to come to Franklin to no avail. So FS went back for a third quarter running clock game on Saturday.

I feel like 20 years ago we would have continued to play and at least made it into the 4th quarter before weather stopped the game. But, as mentioned, rules are rules, and the weather rules are a lot different than they used to be.

 

If the teams had waited out the weather, it would have been 11:30 or 12:00 before play resumed. I don't feel that it's right to make kids have to warm up again and prepare to play again under those circumstances.

 

I hate that we didn't get to witness what I felt like was going to be a fun second half, but I think the parties involved made the only decision they could.

 

A disappointing way to end the series, for now. I hope the two schools can get back on each other's schedule in the future.

The score could have easily been tied at halftime, Caldwell was ruled down on the 1 foot line on the last play of the first half on a long pass and had the momentum going in to half. The Tigers also were to get the ball first in the second half, so we don't know what would have happened in the game, as it stands Franklin Simpson gets the win based on the first half.

Note for future: Don't defer to the second half if there's not going to be a second half! :lol2:

FS dominated the first half. Caldwell had three good pass plays that went their way. FS would have went to their horses in the 2nd half to close the deal. FS had two opportunities for passing TDS that the QB decided to run rather than pass that would have made it 28-6 at halftime. Should have, would have, could have, but in the end a good Caldwell Co. got beat by a better FS team. I wished they could have settled it, but the coaches decided to call the game.

I have never seen such claims to "domination" based on a 14-6 half of football over a smaller class 0-2 team as I have here. This board may explode with confusing claims when South and FS play.

Fast, based on what we saw Franklin Simpson won the game, which was the first half, the should have, would have, and could have applies to your statement too about the two opportunities for passing when he decided to run. As for dominating the game, the score would have to be much more than it was for that to be an accurate statement. The way the last 7 minutes of the first half went I could say Caldwell would have shut down the run in the second half and won the game. Franklin Simpson would have had to pass to win the game, something I'm not sure they could have done. I to wish they could have settled it with a complete game.

Film doesn't lie. FS controlled Caldwell on both sides of the ball. Game wasn't as clean as you would like it to be....but FS still dominated...despite the low score

I think they should have waited it out and finished the game. I know Franklin wouldn't have gotten home until 1 or 2 am, but what are they doing on Saturday anyway. Easy for me to say I realize, but also seems pretty easy to just pack your bags and go home at the first sign of lightning as well. I know the Mayfield and Barren County games didn't get over until well after midnight. Doesn't matter now. But a real shame when 2 terrific teams meet up and it ends like this. I know it costs money to hold over, but it also costs money to get the teams there and play the full game in the first place.

FS QB put it in the air twice and was 1 for 2. He kept it twice from his own 45. So I guess that's the two 55 yard TDs he missed according to lightning. The other keeper was from caldwell's 20 but FS scored on the next play. Back to back turnovers by FS before the half kept the Tigers close.

I love the fact that you have to boast about someone else's team. What's your opinion on FS-WE game?

 

Bullfrog- Sure didn't mean to disrespect your QB. My thoughts came after watching the film. They may not have scored, but had open receivers. Your QB looks very atheletic and in control. Good luck the rest of the way.
