Great win for FS, with that intimidating big old Tiger overlooking the field, tough place to play. Tigers are 0-2 and have another tough game next week as they travel to North Hardin to take on the 2-0 Trojans

Must be noted that this game was only a half due to lighting. FS came out early and pretty much ran the ball wherever they wanted to. I'd like to see the time of possession and total plays. FS had to dominate both. FS did a great job of keeping the high powered passing attack of Caldwell on the sidelines. But FS did put the ball on the ground twice, one of which led to the only touchdown Caldwell scored, the other was stopped at the one yard line as the first half ended.

Hated to drive 3 and a half hours round-trip for one half of football. Good while it lasted. FS dominated the first quarter and a half, but Caldwell began to come back late in the second quarter after the 2 FS fumbles. FS run defense is stout, passing defense much improved. Caldwell's Burns is still good. Caldwell seemed to make some adjustments defensively also, would have been a good 2nd half. I admire Caldwell for scheduling so many teams in bigger classes.

Why did they not choose to finish the game today?

School must have had another activity or the stadium was not available

Have to understand the cost involved in transportation, food, misc expense. Officials being available. Many more issues as well.

That would have required FS to travel 400 to 440 miles total depending on the route. It simply is not fiscally reasonable to expect that to happen.

It's around 88 miles one way from Franklin KY to Princeton KY, while that is not a drive across town it's not a huge drive either.

I'm just sayin it's a tough way to take a loss while only being down 8 points with half a game to go.

What time was the game called? Mayfield was up 28-0 at the half and they started back at around 11:30pm. I guess both coaches agreed to call the game?

No idea. But I agree it was an awful way to end a game

I think the FS bus people chose another route. It wasn't the short way through Hopkinsville and Hwy 91. The others are longer but about the same drive time.

 

I wasn't able to be there and don't know any of the particulars but I would guess it was a mutually agreed on finish. Had it been a district game it would have been handled differently.

Had FS and Caldwell started back at 11:30 at best the game could have ended at 1:00AM. Then the FS kids get on the bus at maybe 1:30 and get home around 3:30AM.

Halftime started about 8 o'clock. Both teams came out on the field to warm up for the second half and with about a minute left on the 3-minute warm up clock the teams were sent back to the locker rooms. The storm front was still at least 2 hours away and the lightning appeared to be coming from a long way off. Looked to me like the game could have been very easily and safely finished before the actual storm and lightning got close enough to be a real danger, but the rules are the rules I guess. The official announcement that the game was over was made at about 8:45, cause I stayed until it was announced and I got back to my car just before 9:00. As Mac said, a district game would have been handled differently, also if the 2 schools had only been a 30 minute or so drive apart (like Mayfield and Marshall County) it probably would have been resumed the next day. FS had a game at Breckinridge Co. a few years ago that was postponed until Saturday morning because of the weather. I don't know if the team had already traveled up there on Friday night but I believe they had, but it was a district game and it had to be played.
