It's not my blueprint, it's BGs. Obviously they have a blueprint or a system in place because the success of their overall athletic programs is the best it's ever been in school history. I didn't imply that anything wrong was going on but obviously everyone in the BG system is on the same page. The fact that BG fans get upset when it's brought up puzzles me. If nothing sketchy is happening, then why be upset? Again, I'm not saying that at all. But the fact remains, Warren Central got ravaged, and BGHS is having unparalleled success.

 

There is a blueprint and it's reaping high rewards for the Purps. Keep on keeping on and the rest of us just gotta up our game

And BG people only get upset when people say the wrong things about BG. BG is having success in pretty much every single sport and BG is still one of the best academic public schools in the state. They are having unparalleled success in everything right now and that blueprint begins in elementary school.

As for Warren Central, the dragons can come back if the administration will get their stuff together. You'd be surprised how fast it could happen with the right people in place. It can happen, but will it is the real question.

Everything you mentioned is exactly what I was implying. BG is a lot like UofL. Everyone is on the same page, committed to being the best is everything. That's why I've said, everyone else needs to step the game up. As we said in my day, "don't hate the player, hate the game." BGHS is absolutely playing at the highest level. Wanna beat the Purps? Step up the overall effort!

 

All that might go out the window Friday because Christian doesn't exactly follow the blueprint but they have a massive amount of raw talent they roll out on the field this year.

The football program is having unprecedented success I agree. I have 3 reasons to give you for that. The basketball men are in a good run and part of that is the WC program has fallen off what they were under their hall of fame coach.

 

As far as football is concerned.

#1 They have a hall of fame coach and credit should be given where it is due.

#2 Look at the record since the move to 6 classes. I haven't seen anyone mention this but look it up.

#3 The blueprint you mentioned is real. Vertical alignment of the program from 7th to 12th grade. Lots of coaches teaching in the building. (quality coaches by the way, currently 3 former head coaches) Organized and strong booster club. Belief from the administration.

 

112-14 (.889). For reference, they were 48-6 (.889) in the four seasons beforehand. I actually thought I was going to find that it was better after in terms of winning percentage, but they are exactly the same.

 

I'm not saying the move to six classes has nothing to do with anything, because it is possible that maybe they'd have been tripped up with some additional hurdles (though before the finals, I sure doubt it), but they're 70-3 (.959) in the last 5+ seasons. I know that some may make a correlation to Central's diminishing success in that, but that really doesn't have anything direct other than Central taking a hit to their depth when South opened. Several key components that went to South could have made the difference for WC in those tight 2011 & 2012 years - especially 2012. (Not to mention Eli Brown going to East, but that was a different matter entirely.)

 

The point being, that Bowling Green had a lot of success before the move to six classes as well as after. If we're making the six class argument, in my opinion it's only that it may have helped BG get rolling (didn't have to face Highlands in 2011-2014 which would have been a vast upgrade in the finals), and once rolling downhill, everything completely clicked to make them the power they are now.

 

Bowling Green football has always been good. They don't owe much, if any, of their current success to the Warren County screwups. The other sports? That's a different matter.

The only thing I was trying to figure out is that when BG won it all in 11,12,13 Warren Central was really good. They played 2x every year and Central made it to the region championship every time as far as they could go. Central football didn't fall off till last year.

 

Central was good in 11, 12, 13. But, they weren't BG good. Rarely ever does BG have to play any one player both ways. Every year they average over 100 kids on their roster. Some teams may hold their own with BG through the first 2 quarters, but don't have the man power/stamina to continue through the second half. The steady decline of WC since the opening of SWHS in 2010 is evident in numbers and talent. Add the coaching debacle to that, and here we are.

Agreed!!! You are that dude! You ALWAYS say the right things when it comes to the Warren Central situation and its ramifications. I know you take it to heart more than anyone on here and I always appreciate your input when it is discussed.

I am sorry to thread-jack here, but I really would like to know. Who was (or can you remember anyone) who started both offense and defense in the same year (went both ways) for BG? I can not remember it. I know Nacarius and Tre Fant both took snaps on the other side of the ball, but I'm talking about starting on both.

To follow up, I think Dane Drobocky started last year at TE, but he finished it on the defensive side of the ball while Strickler came on and BG needed the beef to play teams like Owensboro. But that's not exactly what I'm after here.

When will they ever win a game?

Not this year. Hopefully some games next season against more appropriate opponents would yield an opportunity. I would think schools that have never had the opportunity to beat them should line up personally. No reason they shouldn't be playing a Butler County, or Edmonson County, Barren County, Grayson County, etc. (A couple of those have beaten them)
