It would seem that parents in the WC district would have a good class action lawsuit case. I am kind of surprised this hasn't happened.

I'll also add that the main problem with what has happened at Warren Central is that it was a traditional power in football and seeing them as they are now is troubling because it didn't have to go down like this and everyone knows it. If we're going to be all the way honest if Warren Central was still Warren Central in football and it was Greenwood or Warren East suffering as South Warren's football program continues to rise to new heights each season then no one would care.

 

I don't know that no one would care, but obviously, it wouldn't be as high profile as it is now. Neither Greenwood nor Warren East have ever played for a state title in football. The two have combined for four double digit win seasons ever. Before Ben Bruni, Warren East had had one winning season in the previous 19 years. Greenwood has only once had consecutive winning seasons in a row (this year will likely become the second occurrence), and have never had three in a row. Between them, they're 1-56 against Bowling Green, and the Purples have won 50 straight against the two since the 1985 game they lost to Warren East. They're a combined 10-49-1 against Warren Central, and one of those wins came last year. Greenwood has never beaten a Warren Central team that finished with a winning record - Warren East did it once. Both of those programs have made great strides in the last decade. Warren East is trying to build back to it, while Greenwood feels more on the upswing than they've ever been outside of the 08 & 09 seasons. But neither had the pedigree that Warren Central did. I'm not certain either ever will.

 

The reason people are troubled so much about what has happened to Warren Central is not merely that a program of their historic stature has fallen down so badly. It's the length of time that took place in (four years removed from being arguably one of the top 10 teams in the state regardless of class they nearly didn't have a football team at all), and the fact that many believe they may not be capable of getting back up. I found what happened to Greenwood when South opened to be unfair. They lost the majority of their athletic coaches (contrasted with the Central/Greenwood split when most stayed at Central) and a lot of their athletes (South Warren essentially inherited the Greenwood basketball team when Stumbo and Embry both elected to go to South for example). But I never once doubted that Greenwood would continue to be viable as a school, that they would be capable of maintaining a program, and given the right direction, that they could re-establish. Bill Belichick himself could come down to Warren Central right now, and unless they received a horde of transfers, they're not going to do a doggone thing to be much more viable than they are now. Warren Central has to stop making mistakes, and has to focus on re-earning the trust of those who were burned by some of the mistakes of the past few years, but the reality is that even when things were running well under Rogers, dark clouds were on the horizon. All that happened here was an acceleration. People are agape with horror at what is going on at Warren Central because they think it's NEVER coming back, and they may be correct. I've said it on here before - I think it will be a generation (or more) before Warren Central gets back to being competitive.

His dad is also paying $4000 in tuition. Superintendent Clayton and friends wasted a whole lot of time and peoples money for a state ruling in their favor that you call crap.

Every child in this thread is KHSAA eligible as far as I know. The Fords at South are still waiting to hear back I think.

The rule on transfers starts with the initial establishment of eligibility at a specific school. That happens when a kid participates in a varsity sport. You can live in Scottsville, commute to Glasgow and be a Scottie if Glasgow High is where you first participate in varsity athletics.

 

After this the water gets very murky.

 

If you live in Scottsville and have established ACS as your school then your family would have to make a "legitimate change of address" to be immediately eligible at Glasgow.

 

Then there is the "Transfer for academic reasons".

 

It goes from murky to muddy to just mud.

Sorry, I just assumed that if students were simply going to other schools for academic reasons this thread wouldn't exist. We are discussing the demise of WC's athletics. Hence, the mention of the KHSAA.

 

It's my understanding the Ford kid was ruled ineligible but is appealing. But I agree with an earlier post that mentioned everything everyone has heard is wrong. I certainly could be one of those.

It's not my blueprint, it's BGs. Obviously they have a blueprint or a system in place because the success of their overall athletic programs is the best it's ever been in school history. I didn't imply that anything wrong was going on but obviously everyone in the BG system is on the same page. The fact that BG fans get upset when it's brought up puzzles me. The only thing I was trying to figure out is that when BG won it all in 11,12,13 Warren Central was really good. They played 2x every year and Central made it to the region championship every time as far as they could go. Central football didn't fall off till last year.

The football program is having unprecedented success I agree. I have 3 reasons to give you for that. The basketball men are in a good run and part of that is the WC program has fallen off what they were under their hall of fame coach.

#1 They have a hall of fame coach and credit should be given where it is due.

#2 Look at the record since the move to 6 classes. I haven't seen anyone mention this but look it up.

#3 The blueprint you mentioned is real. Vertical alignment of the program from 7th to 12th grade. Lots of coaches teaching in the building. (quality coaches by the way, currently 3 former head coaches) Organized and strong booster club. Belief from the administration.

Everything you mentioned is exactly what I was implying. BG is a lot like UofL. Everyone is on the same page, committed to being the best is everything. That's why I've said, everyone else needs to step the game up. As we said in my day, "don't hate the player, hate the game." BGHS is absolutely playing at the highest level. Wanna beat the Purps? Step up the overall effort!
